Beckham reveals Real regret

David Beckham has revealed that he wanted to stay at Real Madrid for another three seasons and regretted choosing to move to Major League Soccer towards the end of last season.

The England midfielder opted to join Los Angeles Galaxy after he was told that Madrid did not want to renew his contract in January.

After an impressive second half to the campaign, coach Fabio Capello and president Ramon Calderon, both stated that they had made a mistake in allowing Beckham to leave.

"I felt capable of staying for longer at Real Madrid," the former Manchester United star told Diario de Noticias.

"I think I could have still played for three more seasons at the highest level, but as the club told me in January that they did not want to renew my contract I took this decision."

Beckham admits that he felt regret the day that Real Maded beat Mallorca to win the league title for the first time in four years, but has vowed to follow the club's fortunes from afar.

"That day my heart ached, but the decision was already taken," he continued.

"I am going to continue to support Real Madrid and follow them next season."

Reflecting on the sudden turnaround in the team's fortunes in the final three months of the season, Beckham believes that it was because the media had written off their chances.

"Nobody backed us and that removed a lot of the pressure. We were able to work better," he said.

With the league title being his only major title in four seasons at the Bernabeu, Beckham believes that the instability at the club spoiled his chances of adding more silverware to his collection.

"There were too many changes," he added. "Three presidents and six coaches is too much.

"The players never stopped trying and we were the least guilty in all this."

Yeah, I read this but I feel his pain. He was actually given no choice at all. I remember Mijatovic saying that then they were new to this stuff and just kept tossing his agents away. They felt too big and were not answering them. This is just a fairy tale with a sad ending. But life has to go on. I wish him the best of luck but I feel he might regret his move there as the months go by and night after night it will hurt more as he sees us in the UCL. It would take him a year to get over this. This is not something small at all. For him personally, his nightmares are just beginning.:(

Saviola is a great signing for us, he's proven and he was free! We needed another CF to give Ruud more time to rest.

Exactly! For a professional player like him, MLS is 100 times lesser! :p

Becks! You can earn money even after 35! But cant live the passion of quality football!

^^Schuster wants Ramos at Right back...

Ramos ---Canna--- Pepe (Metz)---- MTorres

I havn't posted this anywhere else because its just here-say

I heard from a socio that's very active within the club that Real Madrid have officially made an offer for Fabregas AND Reyes worth €40 million. He's never given me a reason to doubt him but you never know...

yes, the problem is what about Cicinho? Schuster wants Cicinho stay, but it seems that we have too many players there

Do we really wanna trade Robinho for Cesc? I don't think so, and like someone said earlier, Cesc is Catalan and he's from Barcelona factory...Anyway, good news that Reyes would stay. This is important.

HAHA yeah. what a professional on and off the field really . This is Calderon and Mija acting too big and not thinking it through. I liked how Lalas said you can have Beckham for $100 million..haha.. giving them a taste of their own medicine.
