SQUAD LIST
GOALKEEPERS: Casillas, Diego López & Casilla.
DEFENDERS: Ramos, Cicinho, Cannavaro, Helguera, Marcelo, Mejía, Roberto Carlos & Torres.
MIDFIELDERS: Guti, Gago, Diarra, Robinho, Beckham, Higuaín & Reyes.
FORWARDS: Raúl & Van Nistelrooy.
My guess is;
--------- I k e r C a s i l l a s ---------
Ramos ---- Canna ---- Helguera ---- RC
---------------- Diarra ----------------
-- Beckham ----- Guti ------ Robinho --
------------ Raul ---------------------
--------------------- Ruud ------------
We need to put more pressure on Barca before their match. A win, with more than 3 goal deficit would really please Madrid fans, as a revenge.

Yeah with Emerson not starting I wouldn't be surprised to see Torres is in the lineup. Shows what a backflip the team has made when I'm disappointed Emerson may not be on :)
Maybe Gago if he is ok instead of Guti so Capello can maintain his double pivot.

I wouldn't mind playing something like this. Strong defensive line, but with enough creativity midfield/up front. I guess we will see soon enough what he decides to go with. Hala Madrid :D

Since reyes is playing well..i think i would have actually started him instead of raul..especially since he can take on players as well as play as a striker too..raul can always be brought on later depending on how the match progresses..

To be honest, I worry about the threat from Sevilla more than the threat from Barca, somehow I see Sevilla is very dangerous, why the hell that team just keep winning and winning and never get tired.
Anyway, as long as we keep our win,we don't care the rest!

From, now on, only three points from each game will make us the Champions. we can't expect anyone to fail. Nobody will fail.
Sevilla's momentum will carry them to win the rest of the games. Now, that barca found their lucky touches back, i guess the same with them too. So, we cannot fail at any level. I'm really happy that we're on top. Else, we would have to wait like beggars to see others failing. :p
The fixture that scared me most is the one against Zaragoza. Hope our former friend Cesar will leak few goals for us. :p

You are right again :p
We can't expect other teams to drop their points at this last stage of La Liga to bring us becoming the champion, either Barca, Sevilla or even Vallencia. We should do and must do, is to depend on ourself, only! There are 3 games left, what I worry is that we are so easy to receive goals (any suggestion of poor defenders?) and we just win at the very last minutes (yes, it is the reflect of our will and united team works, but how about the another sides, I mean, can we expect to win the last 3 games by 1 goals difference at 89' or 90' minute like those matchs? it is more exciting, of course! I do enjoy! but is it better to decide the match earlier)!

3 more. we are starting to get lucky. it makes me nervous because it shows the heart and character but we need to put some teams away before the luck stops. we had so many chances (usually due to beckham's fantastic match). carlos is the hero on this one with an excellent effort from higuain. god, its tight up the top of the table.
I think Capello ought to play his backline and DMs like this with the remaining 3 matches:
Ramos - Helguera - Cannavaro - Torres/Carlos
Emerson - Diarra
This will offer us the most stability at the back. This is the most defensively sound line up it can be with our squad. Emerson has been a beast lately and I always liked Diarra since his arrival. With Emerson and Diarra there, Carlos can roam freely but having Torres there instead of Carlos allows the backline to be more protected, so that will be up to Capello whether he wants a more attacking backline or a more balanced backline. Ramos and Cannavaro just don't click, nor does he and Helguera, so it is best if Capello sticks to Helguera and Cannavaro.

Here Here! How many games before Capello realises not to play Ramos in the middle. He has been our best back on the right both defensively and with supply to the forwards and why someone would want to lose that and exchange it for shaky central defending is beyond me.
Beck's was MotM for me in the recreativo game, I was really impressed with him and we easily could have locked that game out before the 1st half was over with his constant supply.
3 more finals to go :D Anyone would think Barca don't want us to win, with the message they sent us from the Athletico game ;)
EDIT: lol, i only just realised Beckham got a yellow for yelling and threatening the player who kicked him in the balls, and the other guy gets off scott free! Hopefully the incident is brought up and he gets what he deserves.

Anyone is welcome to post in the thread and discuss the game and Real in general, but don't be an arrogant smartarse about it and act with a bit of maturity and you will receive the same in return regardless of who you support and want to see win the league.

lets not troll the barca forum and they wont come here. its always been good that way with us and them. in the EPL forums, you have to sift through too much shit-talking just to get to footy discussion and i dont want that to happen over here.
in any event, hopefully that is done with.
i agree with rev and lunchbox, ramos has been one of our best players this year but he doesnt look very comfortable in the middle yet. we only have three matches left and i would really like to see carlos and ramos finish the season as the starters on the outside with helguera in the middle. i dont think my heart can take any more of these come from behind victories.

I wanted to talk about this too but I thought I was the only person who thought so. We shouldn't troll Barca forums anymore so they won't intervene with ours, end of story. I hate pointing fingers but I think wong ma and Pizzesta has been roaming into the Barca forums and stirring some shit up. They may be posting in a civilized manner, but whenever Real fans mixes with Barca fans, shit just starts, so I think none of us should be going into their thread posting again. Like benn says, I would hate our thread to turn into a hate thread like the EPL ones and if Real faithfuls starts roaming into Barca's main thread again, I forecast a spam fest between the rivaling fans.
PS: Oh, by the way, I hate not to be cocky about the results but we haven't won the league yet. The league can still be in Sevilla and Barca hands, so I don't think we should be cocky until we win it, but that's just my personal opinion, didn't meant to be lecturing anybody, hope none of you here take it the wrong way.

correct. both spain and real plan to make him a center back because he is so good in the air and strong off the ball. the potential is there but sometimes he gambles and fouls a bit too much to be a steady enough CB in the middle for me. if he was paired with a taller, powerful partner (think a rio or terry) then he might do better. canna is too similiar in height and style.

Who else is thinking Roberto Soldado can play in our first 11, next season?
Who else is thinking Roberto Soldado can play in our first 11, next season?
I don't follow Osasuna so I don't know how he is doing. But any how, we still have too much quality strikers in our squad and I think it'll be too competitve for Soldado. To be honest, I think he'll be better off looking at a possible to transfer to other smaller teams. I certainly won't play Soldado over Robinho (even though he'll play on flanks next season) or Ruud in the striker position, and Raul is an untouchable. I know Soldado's record has been great in Castilla but so did Portillo. Sometimes, players just can't make the switch from league B to league A. To top it off, almost every year we're linked with a top class striker. This year it's Tevez, as much as I don't want him to come because of our overflowing number of strikers, I don't see him forever at West Ham so he is a possible candidate to come to Real. And if Tevez does come, Soldado will probably be the 5th choice of striker. To sum it up, I definately think it is better for Soldado to transfer to another team.

Exactly! Also, if we always keep saying, that Raul is unchangeable and want a big name striker, we will ended up without any good striker. :)
I hope Real Madrid will not buy another striker this summer, but bring back Roberto Soldado, and a good play-maker.
I wish, Schuster is a fan of Soldado. :p

Since we're no Socios, no matter what we do, Raul is indispensible whether you like it or not. No matter what we do, Real will always be linked with a high quality striker. We will not end up without any quality striker as we have too much of it already as of now. I can assure you, we'll be linked with more no matter we like it or not. To top it off, all the strikers Real bought in the past few seasons were proven and have shown quality, at least for their previous clubs. I hate to burst your bubble Pizziesta, but I seriously think Soldado will be better off at another club if he wants playing time. I'm not doubting his abilities, but it'll be just extremely difficult for him to break into the starting 11. He'll just be another fringe player at Real, warming the bench and playing in Copa del Ray at max. I do hope he can prove me wrong though as I think we should spend our transfer funds on someone who isn't a striker.

Another heart-attack game yesterday. Higuain provided the magic again this week. Gets the header and runs down the pitch like he got shot out of a cannon. Classy finishing from Roberto Carlos to lift the ball over the keeper. I have not seen Real Madrid play like this in years! They certainly want this Liga badly.
I'm certainly with those who want Soldado back at the club. I've always liked Soldado and it would be nice if Real actually kept a home-grown player around. He's got great pace and a nose for goal. I really hope Real don't go after another high-priced forward.

soldado is a still a young lad and who knows, it might just take a local boy to steal a bit of playing time from raul.
watched the match again and a few things i noticed:
becks, man of the match. not only his pinpoint crosses but his delivery all over the field, especially in tight spaces on the ground. he even played a big part in the final goal. i do find it funny though that he can whip in a perfect ball into the box but has trouble lobbing the keeper.
robinho had another brilliant match, especially early on. if he had just that little bit more quality in his end product, he could be one of the best. he lacks that final shot sometimes that players like henry put in so effortlessly.
our dms need to learn to use their head, diarra and gago both have missed some absolute sitters in the box lately. let ruud and robinho show them how its done.
raul actually had a good match overall. he was active and even though, he didnt score, he was working harder this match than i have seen him in the past.
however, bringing on higuain was the right call for sure. that lighting speed....he was the only player we have that could have pulled off that run. another great substitution from capello.
on the second viewing, ramos, canna, and even casillas looked really confused at times. they were fine most of the match but then suddenly, they would drop communication. both goals were actually ramos's fault. torres had a blistering match defensively. he bailed out both of our cbs countless times. i still think we need to get helguera in there, especially if we are protecting a lead.

I know Roberto Carlos is a legend and he did score the winner but he's a defensive liability right now. With 3 finals left we can't mess around. The backline should be:
Torres------------Ramos

No doubt about that, but Barcelona has plenty of pick-pockets :p :D :D :D So better watch out.
I think this will all come down to if Real can win against zaragoza. This week Zaragoza will probably lose to Sevilla and with Getafe playing celta and gimnastic in the last 2 matches and Atletico just getting a booster shot on their ass and having 3 easy games, they need points from the Madrid match. Also Getafe will need some points from their next match against us to put pressure on zaragoza. So if we win this week, there'll be tons of pressure on Madrid for the second last week and the title will be decided then. How good are you at performing, soaking in all that pressure ?
DriveShot
21-05-2007, 07:17 PM
Zaragosa don't have much to play for, they're already in the UEFA cup and their spot is practically guaranteed.
Pressure? Do you remember the crisis at the Bernabeu the media portrayed earlier on this season? Cassano, Ronaldo, and Diarra all speaking out against Capello. Going down 2-0 and 3-1 against Espanyol to win? This team has show time and time again that they will never give up and just play better when the pressure is on.
I say I hope all the teams leave everything on the pitch, this is going to be a very exciting 3 weeks.

the only problem is that because of cap's system, carlos (and cicinho for that matter) have been vital in our attack, pushing the ball forward and keep the opposition on the back foot by putting in some excellent crosses. you are right in that carlos can be somewhat of a defensive liabilty though on the counter attack. its a tough call. it might be a situation where we need to start torres and bring on carlos if we need some goals.
the thing is, the first half we completely shut them down but didnt convert our chances. if we put away those balls in the beginning we could have had a 6-0 score as well but the longer you let a team hang around by not scoring, the defense starts to slip.

If Emerson and Diarra plays in DM, we'll be defensively sound to field Carlos. I don't know, I have a bad feeling about these last 3 games. If we don't win all 3 games, I see the title going to Barca as they have the easier fixtures than Sevilla and Real.

Its not just Roberto Carlos getting caught on the counter-attack, he just isn't looking as sharp as he used to in defense. Cicinho is a liability because he goes forward too often. Torres has been playing excellent in defense and attack as the left full back so I think we should keep playing him there. If it ain't broke don't fix it.
Lunchbox
22-05-2007, 02:14 AM
I don't mind fielding R.C as while he is a defensive liability at times, I wouldn't put him in the same catagory as Cicinho. I think R.C will play the last few games if only because he is out of here at the end of the season.
Hopefully things will be a bit more sound at the back with Emerson coming back and Helguera and Canna being played. I'd like to continue seeing Torres for Cicinho though :)

I take it the confidence level here is at an all time high for this season. Basically it's win and if Barca wins, you win the league due to head to head match ups?
What are your chances against Deportivo and how did you fair against them last time?

If we win our last 3 matches we'll win the league no matter what happens with Barca or Sevilla.
Depor used to be a very good side. They won the league back in '99 but now they're just a mid table side, this year they're doing worse than usual.
We lost to Depor 2-0 earlier this season but the Riazor isn't a fun place to go and we're definitely not the same team anymore.

Real Madrid's decision to offer Zaragoza money two rounds ahead of their visit to La Romareda has left Barcelona and Sevilla crying foul.
Controversy As Real Madrid Offer Zaragoza Money
While offering teams financial incentives to perform well (as opposed to playing poorly) is not outlawed, Real Madrid's decision to do the same with Real Zaragoza is raising eyebrows in Barcelona and Seville, according to Sport.
The incentive is being handed for Zaragoza to beat Sevilla this weekend, and technically not for the match against Real Madrid, it needs to be clarified.
However, the idea clearly is that should Zaragoza win and secure a Uefa Cup berth, they would be less intense against Los Merengues in the following round.
Roberto Carlos had made Madrid's objective abundantly clear on Tuesday, speaking to AS.
"I want Zaragoza to defeat Sevilla next Sunday and qualify for next year's UEFA Cup, because if they don't we will have a tough game in Zaragoza the following weekend," he had said.
Barcelona have declared that they will not be offering any 'black bags' and instead count on the teams' imperative to do their best no matter what.
Meanwhile Real Madrid have chosen to go ahead with it, and have already handed Getafe - who have little to play for but pride - a massive incentive should they get a result at the Camp Nou on Saturday.

Kaka Wants Real Madrid Move - Robinho
Real Madrid forward Robinho has revealed that Kaka told him he would love to move to Real Madrid, should Milan allow him to. He also spoke about his own future.
"I am scoring important goals and I hope to continue in the same vein until the end of the season," he said, speaking on Marca Radio.
"The year did not begin well. I was not happy.
"But in football, things can change very quickly, and with my dedication, I have shown that I have the desire to play.
"I did not say that I would leave Real Madrid at end of the season. Also, things have changed, and I am happy here. I want to see out my contract, and showcase my football."
Speaking of Kaka, he had some comments that will interest most football fans, one way or the other.
"I do not know if Kaká will sign [for Real Madrid], because he is the champion of Europe," said the Brazilian.
"What I do know is that he likes Real Madrid a lot, and speaks very well about our club.
"He has told me that he would be delighted to play here, but that it is very difficult that Milan let him leave."
"Real Madrid would win a lot with Kaká," he continued. "I am sure that if he wins the Golden Ball, he will be a deserving winner.
"He is just as good off as on the pitch. He is very religious, and very calm."

Well, I don't see too much of illegality in paying a team if they play well. It is kind of similar to incentives, gives the team that little boost of playing better. But paying a team to play bad, that is certainly cheating.

What if (all of this is hypothetical)...
Zaragoza was already relegated
So, they go to Real Madrid , and say that they will purposefully lose against Barca (if Barca, hypothetically, draw, then Madrid win the League) unless Madrid pay them $X
Is that allowed?

But no offense, this question is rather pointless IMO because if Zaragoza wants either a draw or a win, Zaragoza alone can't decide a match given if Real paid them not to lose purposefully. Therefore, even if Real pays Zaragoza not to lose on purpose, theres no guarantee that Zaragoza walk away with a draw or a win. If you're asking if that is allowed or not, I wouldn't think it's allowed because that seems to be blackmailing. I guess Real Madrid can sue Zaragoza for blackmailing and go to court or even get Zaragoza relegated to division C. I'm not Spanish and I'm not a lawyer or government officals so I'm not too sure but common sense tells me if Zaragoza threatens to lose purposefully, I think Real can sue Zaragoza or report to the Spanish FA and take proper measures against Zaragoza.
But paying Zaragoza, if they win, is totally a different case IMO, morally at least. It is similar to paying incentives to workers if profits rose. I don't know if Real will get points docked or not but morally, it doesn't seem to be cheating to me. Also, as of today, that is the only source I have seen about Real giving Zaragoza incentives to play better. I would wait until skysports.com reports it, otherwise I'll just ignore it.

If stuff like this has been happening for quite a while now and no action has ever been taken there seems no reason why this should be a topic of discussion..real madrid or any other club cannot be punished as well since the league authorities never bothered to stop such things from taking place..personally it doesn't sound right to offer another club money to beat another club..but maybe thats part of traditions there in spain..

As far as I know it, paying incentives to teams to play better has always existed in Spain. But paying teams to play bad and loose is illegal. And its not a bad idea because the lesser teams will get some desperately needed money if they can please the bigger guys. Like for instance, Zaragoza can make some money this week from Real to play against Seville and again next week from Barca to play against Real.

On the topic of paying money to teams so they play well, Soccernet's Phil Ball has a column this week discussing it: http://soccernet.espn.go.com/columns/story?id=432179&root=europe&cc=5739&lpos=spotlight&lid=tab2pos2
Also, they mentioned on this week's Revista that the Spanish FA is considering making it an on-the-books rule saying, say, for the last three or four weeks of the season, teams can pay each other to play better.
But generally, yeah, Spain does things a little differently. Read some of Phil Ball's past columns to understand just how different it is sometimes.

Wrong, lighten up, you are negatively affected by the media. Every big team has a Galactico or two. The media and some really bad luck made the term "Galactico" some what unpleasant to the ears. In a way, Inter is full of Galacticos, so is Chelsea. If the likes of Shevchenko, Ballack, Ibrahimovic, Lampard, Vieira walk into Real few seasons ago with the name they have today, they'd be coined as Galacticos too. But Chelsea and Inter are smart enough not to coin their key players as Galacticos because the media are so negative about the term (not saying they should, since it is a Spanish term any how). Big teams consist of these players, and they are the key to success. You can't have a team full of Salgados or Helgueras. You need Beckhams, Figos, Zidanes, Ronaldos to win. Not necessarily putting them all into the same team, but you gotta have at least one or two of them to carry the team.

Well, they had a fantastic season at Serie A this year, discounting the fact that Juve went down and some teams got points docked. But they have been fantastic, didn't put a wrong foot in most, if not all games. As much as you don't like them, you should still give credit to Vieira, Figo, Crespo as they are all good players and they can all be coined as Galactico if they ever joined Real during the Perez days (Figo excluded as he was at Real and was coined as a Galactico).

Robinho says Kaka is ready to join Real.
Associated Press
Posted: 2 days ago
MADRID, Spain (AP) - Champions League winner Kaka may be about to join Real Madrid.
"He very much likes Real Madrid," his Brazil teammate Robinho told Radio Marca on Thursday. "He speaks highly of the team and he told me he'd like to play here.
"But it would be very difficult for AC Milan to let him leave."
Kaka set up Filippo Inzaghi for AC Milan's second goal in Wednesday's 2-1 win over Liverpool in the Champions League final... [cont'd] (http://msn.foxsports.com/soccer/story/6846022)
So is it just me or does FoxSoccer put out a lot of tabloid-esque stories to just ramp up speculation. They did this with Eto'o and Man United saying he was all but signed and it turns out he doesn't plan on moving to Premiership at all this summer. I mean, this may turn out to be true, but we've heard the rumors about Kaka coming here since last season and this site (FoxSoccer.com) always seems to just be a place to perpetuate rumors.

very excited about beckham's recall. hopefully he can play as well for england as he has for us.
im not fussed about ronnie or eto'o. i would rather have them play to be honest so there are no excuses when the title race is over. sometimes a club rallies around each other when a player is out anyway. i know ronnie will miss one match but i dont think because he misses out that barca will automatically lose.

What I thought exactly. But even if we win the title with Ronaldinho and Eto'o there, the Barca people will still cry foul at Real saying we pay to win. IMO, it's a thing of tradition in Spanish football, it is weird, yes, but it is also legal, and we're not paying someone to lose, we're paying someone if they win. I don't see the wrong of it, it's not like we're the only team to do it (if we do pay, that is).

Real was the first team I ever supported to be honest. Dunno why I didn't place them in my list with Man United as well. When I first got to this forum I was a huge Cronaldo fan, still am of course, but I always thought people would take issue with supporting more than one big squad but now I don't really care. I still followed Real Madrid almost as much as United this year.
I'm incredibly excited about Becks' recall as well. McClaren should still be sacked for waiting so long, and really for tossing him out in the first place but that's a different issue. I've no doubt that he'll give the squad new life in the qualifying stage.

5th yellow card - EUROSPORT.COM

:)
Where does it say that it's the 5th yellow? It says he got an yellow. And if it's that red thing that convinced you, then they placed it accidentally over Eto'o's name. It should have been on Edmilson's name just above Eto'o. Edmilson and Ronnie won't play the next game, all others should, if they are not injured.
So, It's Barcelona - (Eto'o + Ronaldhinho + Puyol + Edmilson ) x Espanyol Barcelona. Is it officially confirmed ?
I'm sure tittle will be decided in the next round.
Now what happened to Puyol ?
Honestly, like some of you guys said, all Madrid has to do is win 2 games and irrespective of what happens with Barca, whether we play the A or B team, you'll be champions. But some people here seems to want to be champions not by winning but by Barca losing, and it's the first realistic chance you have in years. Ironic.
Now if I wish to see you guys lose or draw one of the 2 games, it's still reasonable as unfortunately our fate is not in our hands alone, anymore.

Wat do you guys think of gago's performance today? How does it hold to Emerson's usual performance? personally i thought it was pretty good. there were just a few moments where it seemed like the ball was going nowhere but being trapped in the midfield (then again that's his role). He's starting to improve so thats good. :)

Sorry for using red to highlight the stat but the "YC" above that column is for yellow cards and according to Soccernet and the post-match report, Eto'o was carded and now has 5. I'm not sure where all the confusion is coming from (an that's not directed at you specifically Wong_ma) but I guess we'll see come June 10th if he's playing or not. ESPN is usually pretty accurate.
eto'o will play the next match, it was deco that was carded.
Skysports.com and EPSN both have Eto'o as one of the three to be carded. Deco's not on any of their lists. Don't see two reputable sites making a mistake like that but I suppose one could watch the capped match here again to confirm it.

28-05-2007, 08:59 PM
just watched the depor game, lol ruud tried hard to avoid a fifth yellow, especially the one when he tried to pick up the rebound from a beckham long range attempt. good to see that.
I'm very concerned about the Zaragoza match... for the last 5 years RM has done poorly after the international and this is our bogey team on the road
The good news is that they have Diogo suspended (a former player)... anyone else?
This game is Barca's best chance of retaining their title and I'd be gutted to see that... I'd much rather Seville win it than see the Catalans rub it in for a 3rd year in a row!!
Finally manage to watch the Deportivo match and here is what I thought:
I thought we deserve a 3-0 result instead of 3-1. Our back four and the 2 DMs hardly made a wrong move throughout the game and the back was really stable. That one goal we conceded was bad luck as we didn't manage to clear it soon enough. But other than that one goal, there wasn't too much threat from Deportivo for the entire match.
The back four:
A rare decent game by Ramos while partnering up with Cannavaro in the center. He usually looks really shabby as a center back, let it be Cannavaro or Helguera that he's partnering with. But this week, he has put in a fine performance. Torres, although he hasn't produce much in attack, has been fantastic at back tracking, absolutely A+ defensively. I see him or Ramos playing at the right next week at Zaragoza, can't afford to play Cicinho just yet as he has been a liability defensively during the Espanyol match. Carlos has been fantastic as well, it seems he has taken some knocks during the match, I hope he'll be fit by next week.
Midfielders:
Gago put in a great show in the middle of the park. He won back a lot of balls and interrupted a lot of plays. His passes are short and simple at best but that is enough as he is no real playmaker. The only thing that I didn't like about him is he tried to be too creative by whipping in those long balls in the air. Almost every single one of them was appalling as it resulted in a loss of possession. As for Diarra, Becks, and Robinho, nothing much to say about them as they put in a solid performance. I'm still dying to see Robinho behind Ruud next season.
Strikers: Raul, other than his goal and Ruud's goal, he was invisible during most of the game. But he was there when it counted, so I'd give him an 8. Same with Ruud, he has a quiet game, he was heavily marked the whole game but he was there to score when the opportunity was given to him, I'd rate him a 8.
I'm really worried about next week's match away at Zaragoza. They lost to Sevilla so they are still hungry for the 3 points so they can get into Europe. To be honest, don't kill me for saying this but I don't see us getting all 3 points at their ground as they only manage to lose 2 games at home this season, I expect a draw at max. Of course, I do hope Real prove me wrong and take all 3 points but I think the chances are rather slim.

I watched the last two games of Zaragoza and I have to say I am not that worried about it, sure they have amazing talent in midfield and their attack is not too shabby as well, but their defence is rather poor - and Real has certainly been efficient this season.
I predict a high scoring game, I just hope we come out on top of it. Diogo couldn't play even if he wasn't suspended, quite fortunate cause he has been superb for Zaragoza (according to the press, I only saw 4 games all season but he always did rather well).
The main threat is D.Milito, he has missed a few incredible sitters against Valencia, didn't do extremely well against Seville, so I just hope he doesn't put it together next week. I also much rather have us play a team in need of points, a draw is no good for Real anyway so at least we now Zaragoza won't hold back at anytime. I just hoope we don't fall behind again, one of these days we won't bounce back...

What's wrong with it? Its not like Madrid and Getafe are playing this weekeend and they're talking about Getafe intentionally losing or something like that.
Getafe was founded by Real Madrid fans, Its like if FC United of Manchester got promoted to the EPL... minus the hate for the current owners :p . No surprise that their president is a Real Madrid socio (member) and obviously Real Madrid is "his club" so its not weird to see him with Madrid representatives.
I think I read on another forum that he attends Real Madrid matches regularly at the Bernabeu and is a season ticket holder. He doesn't need money to motivate him to beat Barca.
And if they're plotting a scheme of some sort, they wouldn't do it front and center inside a bullfighting ring :p

To be honest, I'm kinda lost that we weren't even rumored to players such as Nani and Anderson that signed for United today. Both are players that we need, especially Anderson. Anderson cost United 15million pounds, that is a good price for a player of his calibre, especially when he is still so young. Of course, I don't expect him to perform like Kaka first season in, that is impossible but Real can groom him and I'm sure he can be fantastic when the second or third season comes. Especially when the Portugese league isn't too much different from Spanish league, adapting shouldn't be too big of a problem.
I'm not too disappointed, just kinda lost. But then to be fair, our recent signings are all great ones.

i see where you are coming from but giggs will be around for a few more years for anderson to develop and we really need someone who can step right in to replace beckham. i think it would have been good to chase him but we really need someone who can start right away.
nani, again, we have higuain in the fold. if we do bring in another striker, we should work on getting a someone bigger physically who can eventually replace ruud. i think these two players were a good pick-up for united but im not too upset that we didnt get them.

Soldado aims to grasp first opportunity for Spain
MADRID, May 31 (Reuters) - Uncapped striker Roberto Soldado is determined to grasp his opportunity with both hands in Spain's Group F Euro 2008 qualifier against Latvia on Saturday.
With Fernando Torres withdrawing from the squad through injury, Soldado is strongly tipped to get a run-out in Riga and the 22-year-old Osasuna striker is in confident mood.
'We all know what Fernando means to this team and he has been a key player in attack,' Soldado told a news conference on Wednesday.
'He was really unlucky to get injured but I'm here to step into his shoes and if I play I hope to do as well or even better than he has.'
Soldado, who has scored 11 league goals since joining Osasuna in a loan deal from Real Madrid at the start of the season, is likely to partner the live-wire David Villa up front.
'It's going to be very easy to play with a player of his quality,' he said. 'We have different styles ... but we compliment each other very well and I hope we can help Spain get three important points on Saturday.'
Well..not really real madrid news but soldado still is a real madrid player right..with the form he is in i'm hoping he's given a good chance next year..

I know we need someone who can make a difference right away, but there aren't too many of these type of quality players to go around nowadays. Even if they are available, they'll cost an arm or a leg.
Kaka wasn't that well known before he joined Milan, after his first season he became a hit. Which is why I think we gotta make a gamble on an unproven player sometimes. I guess I'm just frustrated seeing Fabregas and Kaka linked to Real every now and then because if you put in some common sense into this whole Kaka-Fabregas saga, you can tell there are no deals for both Fabregas and Kaka, these transfers isn't going anywhere. People who believes the news are just shitting themselves to be honest. Transfers such as Figo's doesn't happen all too often and I seriously think Real should let go of Kaka and Fabregas so we can search for another playmaker.

Like you said, transfers like Figo's don't happen all too often. Also when it happened, madrid was the team to play for with all the galacticos, a team on top, a team with all signs of staying on top and barcelona was not exactly on top and not even looking like we wanted to go on top with plenty of internal crap.
Now the situation in Madrid is not exactly the same as it used to be. May be you guys might win the title this year, may be not. Doesn't matter who wins this year, everyone has to admit that this has been a scrappy season. Nothing too fancy from any of the teams and I honestly think that except for sevilla, performance wise, almost everyone had a shitty season. Kaka just won the CL and Milan is looking like they want to mount a serious title challenge next season and if they don't get Ronnie next seaon(even if they do), I've no idea why they would want to sell him. The player himself is happy there and the team is too. Ask this yourself : If the situation was the other way round, real have Kaka and Milan want him and has nothing except money to offer, would you sell him? I'm sure not, and like real, Milan is not a team swayed too much by money alone. Just like the Sheva situation showed, it has to be pressure from the player along with the money, and I'm not sure if that's going to be the case of Kaka.
As far as Fabregas is concerned, he could be bought. But the price is going to be very very high and that might put a cramp on other deals. Real ahd more success in la liga this season than some of the recent seasons and it's all down tot he young side and they are doing well. So why not go on rebuild the side for the future that will remain loyal and dominate for years by spending less than put all your eggs in one basket.
I think the problem with Madrid right now, is that they have nothing definite to offer except money, and for people who need it, it's good but for others...

Me too, if only he didn't interrupt with sporting decisions and wasn't so erratic with coach changes.
I think the problem with Madrid right now, is that they have nothing definite to offer except money, and for people who need it, it's good but for others...
I think it's more than money. Real is still very attractive to many players because of its past reputation, crowned 9 times in Europe and won most Liga title in Spain. Also, the players that previously played here also has some power to attract new players into the club. Kids grow up watching the likes of likes of Zidane, Ronaldo, Figo, Raul play for Real making these kids want to wear the whites too. Gago is a great example, his idol is Redondo. Because of that, I'm sure Real has some sort of impact to Gago, which is what made him pick Real over other clubs. Then we have Higuain, many clubs were courting him too but he picked Real over others. Of course money plays a big role too but sometimes it's not just about money.
But kidujp, you hit it spot on about Kaka and Fabregas. I can't say the same for Fabregas and Kaka because they are currently really happy with their respective clubs. Both clubs will not have their opinion swayed by money too easily, especially for Milan since Silvio Berlusconi owns it. They're both in one of the best clubs in Europe and both are settled. To top it off for Fabregas, he is from Barca, that just says it all.

Gadget Model Ronaldo wants his Money from Bankrupt BenQ Mobile
Real Madrid soccer star Ronaldo was doing some gadget modeling for BenQ Mobile who sponsored the Real Madrid team. Apparently he did not get paid yet and BenQ mobile is bankrupt.
Real Madrid has still to play with BenQ Mobile shirts until July. BenQ Mobile owes about 1.2 billon Euros (~$1.6 billon) to about 4,000 entities (mostly former employees). Ronaldo is one of creditors. His lawyer hopes to get 20% of the money owed from Ronaldo’s mobile phone endorsement contract.
I am sure Ronaldo will survive without the BenQ mobile money, others are not so lucky. More details on Bild (German).
The pressure on BenQ mounts that they will have to cover for the losses of their mobile unit.

Bwin will sponsor Real Madrid
Spanish Real Madrid will sign a EUR 75 million contract with Austrian Internet gambling firm, Betandwin.
"Bwin" is one of several companies Real Madrid was negotiating with but President Ramon Calderon would not name other potential sponsors saying that the "agreement would be unimaginable for any other club."
Real Madrid's rivals Spanish Barcelona turned down a prospective deal with Bwin because the club's members did not like dealing with a gambling company, according to La Gaceta De Los Negocios.
Other firms rumoured to be vying as sponsor of the club are German energy giant E.On and Spanish firm Endesa.
Former sponsors of Real, such as dairy firm, Parmalat, and car distributor, Otaysa, did not do well financially in the deals. Electronic giant, Siemens, was forced to sell its mobile phone division to BenQ, which then went bankrupt.

IMO, it'll be a really good move for us as Cicinho proves that he can be a liability at the back at times. I've mentioned this before, if Alves comes, we can always push Cicinho up front as a winger. Cicinho has shown that he can play there without much problems. Especially with Becks' departure, we'll really need a right winger and Cicinho suits the bill. Skysports says so too, so I'm all for the deal if it is true, we can offload Baptista and get Alves on a cheaper deal. I don't hate Baptista nor do I think he's crap, he just didn't adapt well to EPL. He has shown what he can do with Sevilla previously and I believe he can do it again if he gets to play week in and week out as a striker. But we're too stacked in that department and if he comes back, he isn't going to get much play time so it is better for us if we offload him. Can't wait for the deal to happen because I rate Alves highly. :o Another playmaker and maybe a left winger (not too important) and we're set.

I think we're courting him because we need someone to replace Becks' on the right. I don't know if Capello (I resigned to the fact that he'll be here for another season) wants him to play in right wing or wants Cicinho to play right wing, but IMO is a good buy nonetheless. We may have Torres, Ramos, and Cicinho to play as right back but don't forget they're all very versatile players. Torres can play on left and right, Ramos can play center and right, and Cicinho has all the attributes to be pushed further up as a winger. I don't see Marcelo getting all the playing time next season, so him and Torres can rotate a bit. Ramos I see him rotating with someone in the center, either with Helguera, Cannavaro, or Metzelder. Cicinho showed that he can be a defensive liabilities at times (the Espanyol game but I hope he proves me wrong because I love Cicinho at RB when he played there last season). Especially with Becks gone next season, no one is going to help Cicinho back track when he pushes forward. So pushing him forward as a winger IMO is the best option. So if we get Alves, I see him giving us some rotation options more than overloading the competition at RB.

Tribalfootball? When did tribalfootball become a creditable source? I never believe anything until skysports post them anyway. Torres has been fantastic whenever or wherever he plays, left or right, I doubt Real will want to ship him off to Osasuna. Marcelo too? Who's going to play LB? Raul Bravo  ? Smells like bullshit if you ask me.
