Apparently due to a lack of demand. They never advertise it tho.

Also live games may be cancelled after winter break.

Bravo lose the rights at the end of this season so hopefully someone else will pick it up.

We need Seria A football on TV.

Im gonna email channel 4 at www.channel4.com/footballitalia but they got rid of it before so unlikely they'll want it.

Gazetta football italia is a football highlights show presented by an amusing bald chap.

It sucks that they are gonna axe it. It was one of my favourite shows some years back. Now i'm not really that into Italian football. Maybe it is a sign of the times?

I find it very boring to watch... not sure why but its just not as exciting as the other 2. I can watch middle of the pack games from La Liga & Prem but I will hardly watch Serie A top teams... the milan derby a few days ago was awesome but you hardly get that many high scoring games in Italy.

Maybe I should try to watch more before I comment but I think the reason I'm not watching is because its BORING... at least in my books!!!

In the early 80s & early 90s nothing came close to Serie A but then there was a drop... does anyone remember why? or how it happened?

I would say that the drop occured early this decade. I only started watching italian football back in 1990, and right from then till about 2-3 years ago i found italian footie to be highly intresting and the top teams were full of players i liked, plus lots of goals were scored in the top matches. I think that the standard of football in Serie A has dropped in recent seasons, because most italian clubs now just can't compete with clubs in England and Spain when it comes to paying astronomical wages for the Worlds best footballers. The corruption scandals this year have served to make things even worse.

Oh and on a side note. I think that James Richardson hasn't been funny since the 90's. He's well past his sell by date!

I think Seria A is as good as it has always been. It is just that La Liga and the Prem have got so much better.

To be honest I only watch the top matches in both La liga and Seria A but even if the middle of the road games are boring so are a lot of the Prems. I know this from having a season ticket at B'Ham City for a few years.

Zico, people overestimate the number of goals scored in La Liga. It's not a high scoring league.Trust me, being a punter myself specialising in over/under, i know these stats very well.A lot of low scoring games between La Liga's mid-table teams. With the exeption of Barca and a few other pleasant surprises on occasion, most games in La Liga are not goalfests.Quite the contrary.

I don't think there's even a question about the EPL.Liverpool's, Tottenham's and Bolton's results speak for themselves. And when was the last time a big game was a high scoring affair?Liverpool-Chelsea 1-4, maybe?0-1 is the usual number of goals scored in these games these days.

Things are not that bad for Serie A.Yes, it's not the best of times for italian teams or Serie A.But it's been only 3 years since the CL final was between AC Milan and Juve, and Milan played in 2 finals in the last 4competitions.

That's a real shame. Gazetta is a great show, much more interesting than Ciao.

Would be great if Italian football returns on Channel 4 or even if Channel 5 start showing it.

About Serie A vs Eng and Esp football, I agree that there has been a drop in quality recently in Serie A, and that Serie A football is slower in general than the others.

However I can't stand English football (I don't know about Spanish, but I think I'd like them) because to me it seems a very physical game, all about speed and strength while Serie A is more technical, more of a chess game.

And as I way prefer technical skill over mere might, Serie A it remains.

So, what are the popular web petition sites? I don't watch much Serie A but I like Gazzetta. For me to keep up with a league, it has to have a good highlights show, otherwise I really can't bother. If the Finnish 3rd division had a show as good as MOTD, I think I'd be able to keep up with it :p

How did a thread about Gazzetta being shuttered end up discussing which league is best?

It's a shame that they closed, because now you may have to watch the GolTV show Ciao instead. I really don't like GolTV's highlight shows. Both Ole and Ciao have horrible commentary.

The host actually mentioned on one of the episodes that if the ratings for Gazetta and Italian football continue to be low, then they'd get cancelled. So he asked us to encourage our friends to watch. ;)

Apparently Serie A nearly lost there tv rights and werent going to get the big money they usually get after Juve were relegated. Rumour has it they have 2season to get back into the Serie A (which they will be, next season) or they arent gonna get the money from tv rights.

Il sign the petition definately and i urge any football fans to sign it, because if u love football, or have that ounce of passion then im sure you wud rather see it on the tv then have it replaced by some dumb ass documentaries about pregnancy.

I personally believe Football Italia is an amazing programme, and James Richardson does the programme proud.

I was thinking the same thing, although id rather sign it than not. Every signature counts imo.

I couldnt live without Serie A football, id have to move to Italy if it was cut of UK tv, and im serious.
