ROME, Nov 6 (Reuters) - The captain of Italy's 1982 World Cup-winning team Dino Zoff was robbed by muggers in Rome as he and his wife returned home just after midnight, police said on Monday.

Zoff, a former Juventus keeper, put up a fight and got a black eye trying to defend himself against four muggers.

The couple eventually surrended their watches, cell phones and billfolds with about 1,000 euros inside.

The attack happened as Zoff returned home after parking his car at a nearby lot in a wealthy northern residential area. The muggers have not been identified.

Very weird.... these high end neighborhoods usually have lots of private security. Especially in Rome.

Pretty disgusting.

If you watched the Roma-Viola match from this past Sunday, there was a moment of silence before the match started. It was in memory of Giovanni Montari, a member of the Bari youth club that was recently murdered.

i havent finished downloading the match, but i've known the tragedy what happened on the bari young player from internet. :(
there is always some unharmonious thing happening, and i'm worried it will affect the influence of italian football, first the scandal and now the murder.

unfortunatly, Italians have the 'option' of being proud for being the worlds best robbers / pic-pocketers. but this is kinda out of character.. and how did they get close to a celeb?
