i read your other post and i think what you mean to say is:

"Who else supports Werder and where are all the Russian fans of Werder here? "

don't worry we all started like that someday :)

Well, I'll agree with you there. Werder has a really good chance of getting into the next round. And what a sensation that'll be.
Can hardly wait for the 05.12.06.

Let's go Werder....

yes that would be a very big win for werder and i will be hoping that they can pull it off. would be great to see a german club have a win that big after lately the german clubs have not been up to par in the europe. would bring a sense of the german clubs can actually play to the scene. would be nice to see. maybe the german clubs wouldnt be in 5th place in the uefa rankings after a win like that.....

Would be nice if they take the option on Almeida.
He has alot of good skills, but some very bad also :p
But hes still very young, he has the quality to become a very good striker.

Looks like Klasnic is leaving with the end of his contract. He has offers from England and he is not offering any good actions to get back into the team :(

atm, I really wonder if Klose stays or leaves to one of the many teams that wat him.

In that case, Werder would at least make tons of money.
And what players Klaus Allofs can get for 35 Mio EUR will be interesting. That`s six times the money they paid for Diego :)

Klose staying would of course also be really nice.

Zidan Wants Permanent Werder Exit!

Date: 22-12-2006
Wrote by: EP's editor Islam Issa

Mohamed Zidan has himself revealed that he wants to leave Werder Bremen, to a club that believes in him.

Earlier this week, Werder Bremen's manager Klaus Allofs had admitted that there is a big possiblity of Zizou departing in January, particularly for a loan. Now, the striker has spoken of his desire to leave, but on a permanent basis.

"The problem at Bremen is that I'm not playing a lot, so I'm open to all possibilities," said Zidan to ViasatSport.

"The most important thing is that I join a club where I get to play," he continued, before adding that he would prefer to be sold as opposed to loaned out again.

"I'd prefer not to get loaned out again. I'd rather join a club that pays for me, and believes in me."

Zidan has not seen much action this season with Werder Bremen, though he had a successful loan period at fellow Bundesliga club Mainz. Now, serious interest in the Egyptian is being shown by another German outfit: Hannover 96, who are expected to put an offer in for the former Danish Player of the Year.

One thing is for sure: there will be much interest in Zidan over the coming weeks...

Werder will lend Leon Andreasen to FSV Mainz 05 for the rest of the season.
Furthermore they are very interested in a transfer of Peter Niemeyer (German U21 international, playing in the Netherlands for Twente Enschede) to Werder.

Shooting star Schlaudraff opts for Bayern

03.01.2007

Scoring against Bayern appears to be the best possible way of earning a transfer to Germany's most successful club. Roy Makaay showed the way four years ago with a hat-trick for Deportivo La Coruna at the Munich Olympic stadium, and now Alemannia Aachen shooting star Jan Schlaudraff has followed suit.

The 23-year-old, who netted a fine fourth for his current club to extinguish Bayern's lingering hopes of remaining in the German Cup back in December, is to join the Bavarian giants on 1 July 2007. The Germany goal-getter has agreed terms with the reigning Bundesliga champions and will sign a three-year deal binding him to the club until 30 June 2010 as soon as the official winter transfer list is published. The transfer fee for the striker, who can also operate in attacking midfield, is the €1 million stipulated in his current contract.

A momentous step

"We're delighted Jan has chosen in our favour," commented Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge. "He's one of the most promising young German players around. Bayern Munich offers him an outstanding sporting opportunity."

"I believe this is the right decision for me personally from a sporting point of view," Schlaudraff observed. The swift and technically able player was also a target for Werder Bremen and Borussia Dortmund. "Obviously this is a big step for me to take, but I see the chance for me to develop my game in Munich and play on the international stage."

Relegation battle beckons

Officials in Aachen welcomed Schlaudraff's early decision on his future. "It's good to have everything clarified. We believe this won't affect Jan's form in the second half of the season. The opposite in fact: we think it will give him a boost," commented Alemannia Director of Sport Jörg Schmadtke. "We're happy we've been able to help him on his way for a while."

"My time at Alemannia has definitely been crucial to my career," Schlaudraff remarked, "and I'm still here. I'm looking forward to the next six months and will do everything I can to ensure I go to Munich with Aachen still in the Bundesliga." The promoted club from the cathedral city on the Dutch border currently lie 13th in the standings, four points clear of the drop zone.

Slippery Schlaudraff

The striker first made a name for himself with eleven goals in Alemannia's successful promotion push last term. The 23-year-old, nicknamed "Boney" for his slight 1.80 m (5 ft 11 in) frame and relatively light 69 kg (152 lb) body weight, has since amassed 14 scorer points (8 goals, 6 assists) in 18 top flight and German Cup appearances this term.

"He's like a weasel. You just can't get hold of him," current coach Michael Frontzeck remarked. The player himself credits his speed and ball control skills to playing as a boy with his older brothers and friends on a field near the family home: "I didn't always want to be the last one picked, so I practiced a lot."

He probably deserves a nice treatment because he is a nice guy, but you know we are not on a peace ceremony or something like that :p We need a full squad for the rest of the season and if we let Zidan go too early, then Lyon might take advantage of our understaffed attack and raise the price for Carew.
This way we still have all options in our hands and Zidan missed the whole preparation-weeks in the Turkey anyway because he had the Flu, so a couple of days more or less without team-training wont do any harm.

edit: Zidan arrived in Mainz today.

Peter Niemeyer Signs For Werder Bremen

Werder Bremen have announced the signing of PeterNiemeyer. The 23 year old defender makes the move to the Weser from Twente Enschede and has signed a contract keeping him with the Green-Whites until 30.06.2011.

“With Peter Niemeyer we have managed to capture yet another talented German player. He gives the impression of being a very bright youngster and possesses fantastic ability”, explained a very satisfied Klaus Allofs after the deal had been completed. Coach Thomas Schaaf added: “Peter Niemeyer excelled as a defensive midfielder and also as a central defender at Twente. We hope to further extend his development here in Bremen.”

From Riesenbeck and Emsdetten through Enschede to Werder

Peter Niemeyer began his football at SV Teuto Riesenbeck before moving to Borussia Emsdetten at Under 15 level. Three years later he took the step across the near by Dutch border to play for Twente Enschede. He has been a member of the Dutch first division sies professional squad since the 2002/2003 season and scored four goals in 106 appearances for the club. Niemeyer is 1,91m tall and weighs in at 83kg. Under trainer Dieter Eilts he made six appearances for the German Under 21 side between November 2005 and May 2006.

Werder Bremen invite all interested media representatives to join in a press conference on Wednesday, 17.01.2007 at 12:30pm. Dica is a bad joke. He will never play for Werder. He is a good player but not for Werder. The rumours started from Romania just like they allways do with the top players every window of transfers. And to be sure that he will stay in Romania he was injured in his first friendly match and will be sidelined for about 5 months.

It's not 100% sure that Werder will buy another striker right now. Maybe we'll have to manage with Klose, Hunt and Almeida and in some case use Polenz or the 2 wich Mambo mentioned.

I dont see why Dica should be a bad joke ?
Its a good man, fine technique and he scored 4 times in the CL.
He´s on Werders scouting list and that he´s injured doesnt mean Werder isnt interested.
A new and good transfer doesnt include that he has to be ready for next weeks matchday.

I'm from Romania and i know what i mean. The roumors that linked Dica with Werder was started by his agent to make him more valuable. I'm 99,99% sure that this was a lie. The championship in Romania has a 3 months break in the winter so the papers needs good stories, and this was a good one. Dica was linked with more than 5 clubs(his agent told that he had solid offers from clubs in Europe) this winter but today the president of Steaua told the the only team who made a official inquiry about the player was Middlesbrough. Markus Rosenberg joins Werder Bremen

Amsterdam, 25 jan 2007
Ajax and Werder Bremen have reached agreement about the immediate transfer of Markus Rosenberg to the current leaders in the German Bundesliga.
The 24-year old Swedish forward had a contract with Ajax through 1 July 2009. Markus Rosenberg, who made his debut for Ajax in the away match against Brøndby IF (2-2) on 10 August 2005, played 63 official matches for the club from Amsterdam. He scored 20 goals for Ajax. Before he joined Ajax, Rosenberg played for Malmö FF and Halmstads BK.

As a result of UEFA guidelines, Rosenberg is not allowed to play for Werder Bremen in this season's UEFA Cup tournament, as he has already played in this European competition for Ajax this season.

Werder Bremen Snap Up Markus Rosenberg

Werder Bremen have acquired the services of Swedish international Markus Rosenberg from Ajax Amsterdam. The 24 year old striker has signed a contract until 30.06.2011. Markus Rosenberg began his career in 2001 at his home town club Malmo. The 24 year old made his real breakthrough in the 2004%2005 seasonplaying on loan at Halmstads BK where he scored 14 goals in just 26 games. Following his return to Malmo FF, the 1,84m and 81kg striker made a €5,3 million move to Ajax Amsterdam in June 2005. A Croatian guy posted it on a forum with a couple of sources. But I don't understand that language so I can't verify.
Apparently it was his mother's kidney, now they'll try with his brother's.

Klasnic’s Body Rejects Kidney
Croatians in shock

28.01.2007 by Srecko Kurtovic

Another shock has come from Bremen with the news that Ivan Klasnic’s body has rejected his mother’s kidney which was transplanted on Thursday morning. This all means that Ivan will have to get ready for another operation with the likely donor being his brother Josip who is a dental surgeon in Bremen.

End of football career?
All the details about why the body has rejected the kidney remain unknown, but what is certain is that doctors will have to get Klasnic ready for another tiring operation and hope that his body will accept the kidney this time. Klasnic who has already shown his bravery by playing with aid of tablets and pain killers for the last year will have to be even more prepared for this battle which is likely to end his hopes of playing professional football ever again.

Croatians in shock
We all hope that this doesn’t happen as Croatia and Werder Bremen will be losing a great part of their success, but just getting through this terrible time is Ivan’s main priority. Many fans and players including a member of Croatian Managerial set up and former Croatian star Robert Prosinecki and retired Croatian international Dado Prso have been trying to get in touch with Klasnic’s family and are all said to be in absolute shock after hearing the news.

But remember, its not officially confirmed yet.

But remember, its not officially confirmed yet.

Similar news was reported in today's local Bremen newspaper the Weser Kurier, although evidently this as yet has not been confirmed.

Nevertheless, I must admit that I am worried, then ever since his transplant on Thursday we haven't heard anything further and considering that Friday was meant to be the crucial day on which one would see whether his body either accepts or rejects his new kidney. All there is to do is hope and wish him all the best.

But remember, its not officially confirmed yet.

Now it is official, unfortunately. His lawyer issued a press statement this morning, more or less verifying what has already been reported.

His doctors shall be examining and analyzing why his body rejected the new kidney and this is expected to take about 6 weeks.

Klasnic's kidney surgery unsuccessful
BERLIN, Jan 29 (Reuters) - Croatian international striker Ivan Klasnic's kidney transplant carried out last week was not successful and he will be out of action for at least six months, his attorney said on Monday.
In a statement published on his club Werder Bremen's Web site (www.werder-bremen.de), Klasnic's attorney K.-Peter Horndasch said the kidney transplant on Thursday had failed, dashing hopes he might be back playing within six to eight weeks.
"Unfortunately the transplanted kidney was rejected by his body," Horndasch said. "The exact reasons for that are now being analysed by the doctors. The investigation will take about six weeks.
"The time will be used to perform preliminary tests on other people related to Ivan Klasnic with the goal of attempting another transplantation in about six to eight weeks."
Klasnic, 26, has played for Werder since 2001 and scored 42 goals in 135 matches. He has played 26 times for Croatia, scoring eight goals.

Oh well, not really :o
Its tough for him, because hes just substitude nr 2 or 3, Hugo Almeida and Aaron Hunt are first choice next to Klose. And now even youth player Schindler left a very good mark in the last UEFA-Cup match. But the coach makes sure that hell get his chances of course.

That's what happened with us & Rosicky. We signed him to a long term deal & then the next year or 2 he leaves, same will likely happen with Hargreaves & Bayern.

His team plays the most attractive attacking football in the League, and that for years now. That is all his credit. He always builds a working unit with spirit and you can clearly see his handwriting all over it.

In my opinion hes the best german coach and we all know how the things work in Bremen, so probably he will be here for the next 10 years ;D Im sure sooner or later he breaks Otto Rehhagels record of 14 years for 1 club.

I doubt anyone here can influence the matter of a Klose transfer.

My opinion is that 10 Mio is not enough. Werder being a profitable club, this means only a couple of Mio after taxes and that`s what Werder paid for him Klose when they got him. So it`s not worth selling him, better to put him on the bench for a season.
If Bayern makes an interesting offer like 15 Mio it`s worth considering to sell him. He won`t be able to come back to his full potential at Bayern anyhow, as it is with most players who go to that club. But a sale has to be profitable for Werder. If this is not the case, there is no reason to sell him. Maybe he could even play and do good in a farewell season at Werder.
We`ll see.

bayern wont offer 15m when he walks for free next year. I dont think that Werder are in a position to negotiate. I dont think Allofs is stupid to accept a peanuts bid but he has to swallow his ego at some point and realize that you should get something for him (even if you sell for the same price as you bought him) rather than letting him walk for free next year.

I don`t think it has anything to do with Allof`s Ego. It´s pure calculation.
If they get 10 Mio for Klose they have like 5 Mio left after taxes.
"Losing" those 5 Mio and Kloses`s low wage now is a good enough price to have Klose play another season at Bremen and it also means he won`t make Bayern stronger for another season.
It`s simply not worth it to sell him to Bayern for 10 Mio.

well i think there are more factors involved. frings and boroski now dont want him at bremen, nor do that fans. i wouldnt want to keep a player that is gonna cause problems in the locker room just for the sake of 'not selling to bayern'

EDIT: its similar to the hargreaves situation except that our players knew he was a key player and didnt say much about his love affair w/united. no use in keeping a player that is unhappy

and i think no matter what you get for him now is better than getting nothing for him at the end of next year.

Companies don't pay 50% taxes like a very good payed worker.
I think it's more like 30%, plus they shurley find a way to spend the 10 M,
so they have to pay no taxes at all on it.

Imo it's not so bad to let him go, his finished at Bremen + Bayern will be so stuffed with top players who won't like warming the bench,

Make yourself free of the idea that Werder Bremen needs or strictly wants to make money out of a Klose transfer. In that case they would have sold him last year (and dont forget, we have the healthiest finances of all clubs in Germany).
He played alot of seasons on the highest level for ~2 million € per anno. Others of his class get double or triple the money (and i guess thats the reason why he wants a change badly). The things he did here are priceless, so he already earned alot of money and reputation for the club.

Its all about: what is best for Werder Bremen next season ?
Can we affort an unhappy player in the squad, will he still do a proper job ?
Would there be alot of trouble if we put Germanys striker No.1 on the bench if he doesnt score ?

In my eyes its more about that things, because it doesnt matter if we get 10 million €uro now if we dont reach the Champions League again.

In my eyes its more about that things, because it doesnt matter if we get 10 million €uro now if we dont reach the Champions League again.

i'm not saying that bremen need the money, but to let him walk for free vs. getting something for him now is kind of a no brainer imo. and w/10m euros, you guys can probably find a nice replacement. and you guys arent going to miss out the CL w/out Klose. he couldnt buy a goal pretty much the entire second half of the season.

i think werder need to ask themselves if its better to keep an unhappy player or get 10m and w/that 10m buy someone who would be happy to play for werder. you already have rosenberg and fritz (or the other blonde, forgot his name :p) who were picking up the scoring slack for klose.

Lets call it a deal, you get a "lovely Paris in a Dirndl" pic in exchange. :p :D :o

But its let him walk for free + one further year with the best german striker in the squad vs. earning 10 million now.
Im not sure how much weight this is in money, but the 10 have been declined, so that number is already out of the race. Having someone of Klose`s class in the team is luxury and additional to that i bet that KATS (Klaus Allofs + Thomas Schaaf) are still pretty miffed about that secret meeting that happened 2 days before our semi-final, so im not sure if they even want to act rational^^

Latest statement (http://www.werder.de/aktuelles/presseschau/presse_text.php?id=10618) from Allofs (yeterday):

You might think he is just bluffing, but i dont think he would have a problem with Klose staying in Bremen.
