Hey there......I almost ALWAYS never agree with the selections made by the French coaches for their matches. I want to pose a question to everyone:
If you had the authority, who would be in your squad to face Greece?? If you wish, include a player or players who you feel have been undeservingly left out of the french squad over the years. I am interested to see who you pick!! Here are my picks:

GOALKEEPERS- Mickael Landreau, Sebastien Frey
DEFENDERS- Francois Clerc, Julien Escude, William Gallas, Willy Sagnol, Lilian Thuram, Anthony Reveillere, Sebastien Squillaci
MIDFIELDERS- Johan Micoud, Julien Faubert, Sylvain Wiltord, Johan Gourcuff, Ludovic Giuly, Jeremy Toulalan, Robert Pires, Olivier Monterrubio
FORWARDS- Nicolas Anelka, Thierry Henry, Louis Saha, Sidney Govou, Anthony Le Tallec

My starting lineup would look as follows:
Landreau- Sagnol, Reveillere, Squillaci, Gallas- Faubert, Pires, Monterrubio- Giuly- Henry, Anelka

I can agree with that, but...
My starting lineup would look as follows:
Landreau- Sagnol, Reveillere, Squillaci, Gallas- Faubert, Pires, Monterrubio- Giuly- Henry, Anelka
...where are your defensive midfields? Pirès can't be alone like a Makélélé can
Plus do you really want to put Gallas on the side again? He's an excellent central let's keep him there. For the rest, why not. But obviously you want a younger team and I think everybody will agree on that.

What about Saha (in the playing XI), Coupet and Evra?

So you would just leave Ribery off the team entirely? Hmmm, very, very interesting.:)

The question was for tonight's game:
If you had the authority, who would be in your squad to face Greece??
So: first, Ribéry is injured at the moment; second, he wasn't playing well during the last few weeks. Everybody was thinking: why Marseille still makes him play since he's clearly out of form?
So, injured or not he didn't deserve a spot in the french team tonight.

I guess I would add Coupet to be the third goalkeeper :D
In the defense, you could add Zebina (http://www.lequipe.fr/Football/FootballFicheJoueur7571.html) and Evra.
In the midfield, Toulalan isn't enough as a DM so I'll add of Viera!!! , Mathieu Bodmer (http://www.lequipe.fr/Football/FootballFicheJoueur5000000000000000000010668.html), Alou Diarra (http://www.lequipe.fr/Football/FootballFicheJoueur10419.html) and maybe in the future Rio Mavuba (http://www.lequipe.fr/Football/FootballFicheJoueur20006.html).
I'm not sure about Micoud cause he's not so good with Bordeaux actually...
About Pires, since he left Arsenal I didn't hear about him...
I definitely agree with Guily and also Ribéry when he'll get to his best.
About the forwards, I agree too but for the moment I'll add Trezeguet and take out Le Tallec... anyway Le Tallec could be the future of France just like Gignac (http://www.lequipe.fr/Football/FootballFicheJoueur21222.html).

He's injured since the beginning of the season and will not return before the beginning of the new year.
But let's remember how great Robert was:

:D

Btw, I really doubt Zebina will come back in the french team in the next months or even the next years.

well make him play or give him a club ban, that's the latest rage nowadays isn't it.

I would take out Le Tallec to add Maka and probably Monterrubio to throw viera in. Also I'd swap in Abidal for oen of those defenders, why woulnd't you take abidal?(unless he's injured although I haven't really been following Lyon).

What about Mexes? Good player and dying to play for France unlike some others. I think he deserves to be in the squad.
But hey, I'm AS Roma fan and he plays for Roma. That's my oppinion.

he deserves to be in the squad yes but in no way should he play instead of Thuram or gallas ;)

yea some have been undeservedly left out, but playing that team against anyone would be like playing a weird impromptu B side.

i do like the inclusion of Giuly though, even though Ray's attempts at making a balanced youth/veteran squad means that Giuly will be dropped for other talent

whatever you do, you would get yelled at by Arsene Wenger ;)

from http://www.football365.fr/bleus/index.shtml

OK... to be honest.. that's a shit french team call-up/selection..

Landreau is a good goalie but PSG has been shit this year and i dont think he's really been that good. Also, though the team has had a toirrid time of recent, Coupet is still the best French goalie.

Its hard to argue about the defense selection since France doesnt have a lot of choices in that area but if i may point out, Thuram doesnt even deserve to be in there but oh well. MExes deserves a place.. no questions

THe midfield raises a few eyebrows. What is Johann Gourcoff doing in that squad? He hasnt been that impressive for MIlan and im sorry , the exdclusion of Mathieu Bodmer, alou diarra, and rio mavuba is up for debate..
'
THats about it.. the strikers seems about right except Le tallec should be whisked out to five way to CIsse
