I heard this rumor on both American soccer stations: Goltv and Fsc, FSC actually ran a big scroll across the screen with this rumor. I think this move is aimed at the Champions League, Uli and Kali think Toni present a big headache for Chelsea, Barca and others and his presence can put Bayern back in contention for Euro honors for next several years to come. It's a positive move on the part of Bayern board of directors, it signal they are no longer happy with domestic successes alone and that we are setting sight on being an European force again. This also probably means Owen Hargreaves is on his way to Manu as a way to help Bayern finance the Luca Toni transfer.
It's only at the rumour stage, the chance of it happening is still slim, when was the last time a major Italian star came over to the Bundesliga? But I'm still gonna cross my fingers!

This is a funny rumor.
lol true it is, but i wouldnt mind seeing this at all. toni and poldi/makaay up front would be a very nice pairing. toni being tall gives sagnol a target for his crosses.
regarding the hargreaves selling, i think if we do get toni now, hargreaves would most likely be gone in the summer. i would not like to see him go but it could be him or lucio that leaves in the summer and finance a move for ribery. i'd rather sell lucio than hargreaves unless there is silly money being thrown at hargreaves then maybe i would change my mind but i'd rather see lucio sold than hargreaves.

36m is a big risk for an Italian going to the Bundesliga (can't think of much precedent for Italians playing in Germany). There were rumors of Inter buying him in the summer for around 20m, but he decided to stay with Fiorentina in the end and Inter got Ibrahimovic. Bayern would most likely go after someone younger (Huntelaar?).
He'll stay in Italy, probably in Florence, unless Roma or Milan swoop him.
He does have a ridiculous strike rate in Serie A though - 55 goals in 79 appearances and 35 in 44 with Fiorentina.

i c your point, but the thing w/huntelaar is that i dont think we'd win a race for huntelaar if the big teams after him. but 36m is a lot for a 30 yr old but like i said, i wouldnt mind seeing him in a bayern kit

swede has a point he's 30yrs old
how much longer can he play?
i'd rather see it go toward someone who has at least 5 years remaining
just my 2c
IMO Bayern has enough good strikers, they need some good midfield players badly.
So I doubt they`ll pay 36 Mio for another striker.

agree completely with you.
and since they are needing midfielders why would they want to sell hargreaves to get toni

true, but pizarro-gate is occurring in bayern camp and he is likely to leave at the end of the season, but we'll see how things develop

This would be cool. I think if they have too many strikers, they should send one the other way in order to make room for Toni. I'd love to see this guy in Germany. :)
