The usual.A farce of a dive for a penalty, which gets awarded.Obviously a bit of jostling with Falkirk players,he then pushes with both hands into the chest of a player. If that's not enough,he then sticks the head on one of them. Not a real headbut but worse than the one Thompson got sent off for against Pansy Pete. There then follows the usual poor, wee, victimised me,pointing and screaming in the face of the officals, act.Trudging off the park snarling at everyone, throwing his captains armband away etc.

I aint saying there wasn't provocation or that Falkirk players are blameless but to make out he's the innocent party is sickening. He deserved a red....end of.

Disgraceful behaviour from the Celtic Captain.........the cunt should have been booked for diving in the first place.

Oh fuck off with your drivel Nelly Fudardo ;)

From what I've heard, he was, as per usual, hard done by, I was listening to sportsound after the game, yet again that prat Jim, he doesnt deserve such a sought after name dismissing caller after caller in defense, Lennon is the most targeted professional in Scottish football, let alone any profession. I'd doubt if there was any other player in the U.K right now or in recent years who has had to deal with the constant shit he puts up with, yet mostly, he puts a smile on, and puts club before whatever comes his way.

He is a true role model, a proper professional. Granted, I haven't seen the incident today, however, with these mixed reports i'd very much like too, not only for the Lennon incident, but for the WGS one as well. Proper pisses me off how you come lurking with this cauldron of hate.. walking down King street today at 2.30pm what does one witness? Oh nothing other than the typical glasgow continguent being picked up for their one of two annual trips to the slammer just behind the lemon tree, signing about their fathers sashes, as if anyone in Aberdeen really gives a shit?

Anyway. No. Lennon is one of the best things to happen to Glasgow Celtic F.C, perhaps the world.. since Adam and Eve... one little incident after years of incidents doesn't change sweet fuck all.

End of the day. 4 every 5iver my arse 16 points clear pmsl

oh fuck off you clearly don't know a single thing surronding Neil Lennon and every team in Scotlands supporters, he is the most targeted player in the british game for this kind of bullshit and far worse hatred.

what the feck is the other player getting involved for? Quite clearly something has been said, and Lennon has lashed out.. weather that warrants a red card is debatable, although ganging up is not to be taken lightly, don't know why the falkirk guys need to make such a big deal about this as it's quite evidently a stone wall penalty.

Still, this is nothing on the hundreds of rangers 'fans' giving nazi salutes in the west enclosure, last weekend, eh?

quote of the century
"We are the People" "This is our city" superiority complex methinks......news for you, you are no longer the people...

no it is because he is a roman catholic born in Lurgan (Northern Ireland) brought up catholic in a dominantly protestant nation during the troubled years(UVF, UFF, IRA... ect)

playing for a team which has strong ties with the south of Ireland, and catholic heritage, in a city which has a strong divide between the two faiths (catholic and protestant) although not a patch on N.Ireland, the old firm are the two most followed teams in N.Ireland, mainly down to faith, and twat fans with lack of brains just jump on the bangwagon and sing their songs about being upto their knees in the blood of catholics (not just orcs) or about queen and country trying to provoke a reaction. He has had to deal with more shit in his life time than anyone could possibly imagine (myself included)

He had to retire from International football due to death threats because of his club commitments for Celtic, and has been viciously attacked dragged out of his own car while waiting for the traffic lights to change, amongst many other things, made public and many more not made public, credit to him for not letting these idiots get the better of him

hail hail

no it is because he is a roman catholic born in Lurgan (Northern Ireland) brought up catholic in a dominantly protestant nation during the troubled years(UVF, UFF, IRA... ect) Why do Hibs fans hate him so much, then?
I can accept that some Rangers fans hate him for what he is,not all but some.It still doesn't explain why the fans of every single club in Scotland cannot stand him.
It's behaviour such as that as was witnessed today that has made him a target that he is.Unless you follow the good ol' Cardinals stupid bollocks that was spouted last week.
The fucker gets away with murder in this country. He was in the papers today moaning about how he never gets a decision, moaning about the 4th official at last weeks game, who happened to be the ref for today's game........what happens? Cannae let poor wee Lenny to be seen as a target so he gets a ridiculous penalty awarded.Totally what the interview was designed to do.......Pressure the ref.A couple of big Celtic suporting friends of mine happen to bump into Lennon regularly and they both say he's a very, very intelligent guy(Winning pub quizzes in the West End and all that shit)

BTW........Duncan Ferguson got put in prison for less.

Jimmy......if you think that was a stone waller you're madder than I thought.

Not much of a headbut but the intent and the aggresion is there. Many people have been ordered off for that and Lennon, not matter how special he thinks he is,got what they got.

From what i've seen in that clip , does'nt look a penalty. never seen any serious action for a red card tho , usually boisterous hand-bags you get in football.

Definetly a dive by Lennon , No wonder Falkirk players where incensed by him tho, but he should have never reacted in the way he did, but who knows what is ever said in situations like that. I know if i was a Player i try every trick in the world to get an advantage for my team to win, including getting really personal with opponents.

Dignity........see,you're learning already. You could be one of 'ra peepil' if you're prepared to knuckle down a bit.:D

FB......handbags,of course. But there have been numerous players sent off for less.Thompson on Lovelypants,Figo on Van Bommel(WC) off the top of my head.

Would Paul McStay have thrown his captains armband down? I very much doubt it.

I might be mistaken but isn't pushing a player with both hands a red card offence, no matter the force or intent behind it? Might be yellow, but i think its red.

He has a bad temper. I hate the way people try and critisise him for it, it's not his fault. The only way he can sort it out is through anger management but he might aswell wait until he retires.

That statement is bang out order.

No place for it ANYWHERE!Do read the thread before jumping on the offended bus.It was a reference to Lennon - why everyone seems to hate him,and a possible reason being that the whole of Scotland is anti Catholic which is what Cardinal O'Bollox was implying recently. Now,I've spent 30 odd years here and never have I once heard the phrase 'punch a pape' being used or the passtime of going out to 'punch a pape' being suggested nor have I met anyone who has heard of it.Quite frankly,it's the same old doctrine that Sellick,Lennon and the rest are victimised, downtrodden poor wee folk.

People with a bad temper tend to get themselves in trouble from time to time.People who get themselves in trouble sometimes get punished for it.It's that simple.
I agree,no point trying to hide the fact at this stage of his career.Maybe he's getting frustrated that he can't run around as much as used to do.In fact,if he was a bit more mobile throughout his career he would be talked about alongside the Makalele's of this world.

So it's got absolutely nothing to do with the fact that he is a greetin faced, ginger wind up merchant that like to pretend that he is a victim? He is the most hated player in the SPL, even amongst fans of team like Hibs.

Lets face it, Neil Lennon is a wind up merchant. He winds up opposition fans and players. He is a bit crazy sometimes, but thats what you get from him. Now moreso as hes the Captain of Celtic. He takes it very seriously.

The more the SPL opposition hate him, the more it tells me hes still doing his job right. Otherwise people would just be laughing saying how shit he was. But he's not.

He shouldnt have got a straight red...

Source Times article (http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,438-2522511,00.html)
The Celtic captain was sent off against Falkirk last Saturday by Iain Brines moments after being given a penalty which prompted a furious reaction from John Hughes’s team. Lennon’s reaction to the punishment — and to Neil Brand, the assistant — produced all sorts of headlines for several days, claiming that Lennon would be facing a heavy suspension and suggesting that Brines had issued more than one red card for the player’s behaviour.

Very few people saw the incident clearly, whether in the press box or down on the pitch. Certainly, Brand and Brines did not. Reports claimed that Lennon had head-butted Anthony Stokes, even though Stokes informed everyone within half an hour that there had been no contact in their face-to-face confrontation.

There was no headbutt. No Glasgow Kiss. Merely, the proverbial “handbags”. Brand, from his position of more than 50 yards away, drew Brines’ attention to the affair. However, both referee and linesman should be made to watch re-runs of Setanta’s footage and they will see not only that they were incorrect but that Lennon is pursued by Falkirk players from the moment the penalty — which was undoubtedly a dive by Lennon — was awarded.

Kenny Milne and Jack Ross rush over towards Lennon before he gets up. Lennon pushes Ross in the chest. Everyone is drawn to the location, like bees to honey, before Kenny Miller takes Lennon several yard away from the incident. At that point, Lennon is then pursued by Stephen O’Donnell and eventually Stokes. The on-loan Arsenal player seeks Lennon out, not the other way around. Any brushing of heads after that is minimal — but both players do it, so if Lennon is shown a red card, the yellow to Stokes is inexplicable.

What is also inexplicable is why Brand can be seen on television shouting in Lennon’s face as he leaves the pitch. That sort of behaviour, if repeated by players against linesmen, would merit severe punishment.

Gordon Strachan, the Celtic manager, offered Lennon no public sympathy last Saturday but after watching a DVD of the game, concluded that his captain has been harshly dealt with. However, he and Lennon will not be appealing against the red card. The underlying perception is that Lennon does not receive any justice from referees.
This is normally quite a good newspaper, I enjoy it time to time. Article worth a read too.

What is a man supposed to do when hounded?

As per usual, the tabloids blow everything outta proportion when it comes to Neil Lennon. When provoked he pushed Ross away, but only a push in the chest & I do believe thats now a yellow card. Ref's need to show some discretion(some do) when its gone to a whole new level.
