Guatemala? why guatemala? US is playing it safe again. why can't they schedule a match against a good S. American side?
just to be sure, Klinsman the new coach/manager right?

Nope where have you been?
It's Guatemala because it's a weeknight game in March. The US is playing the Copa America so they'll get plenty of experience against S. American sides.

For one they try to stay away from population centers that will draw more support for the opposition than the home team. Therefore, they are not going to play Mexico in Texas or Chicago for example and they will not play El Salvador or Honduras again in DC. The last Mexico WC qualifier was played in Columbus. Also, there seems to be more support in the north than the south. They played a qualifier in Birmingham and there were a ton of empty seats. That would not have happened in many other cities that either have MLS teams or where soccer is hugely popular. It isn't just happenstance that both Florida MLS teams went under. Soccer is popular and well supported in Texas, but it doesn't seem that way in the rest of the south. At least in terms of buying tickets and turning out. They basically follow the money, while at the same time trying to maintain homefield advantage.

Bob Bradley son...Bob Bradley!
I think our shot at Jurgen is gone. But from what I've heard Quieroz and Houllier are viable options.

I think titeo has been hiding in a hole :p
Anyway, what's wrong with Guatemala? Carlos Ruiz is from Guatemala and he isn't half bad. They have a decent team and matches against them are always competitive. In addition to Ruiz a number of other Guatemalans play in MLS, so many of our players are familiar with them.
US v. Ecuador will be interesting. I don't think Ecuador will field their strongest side and Tin Delgado is suspended for an entire year, so that sucks for them because he is their best player and the whole situation was a shame.
As for Quieroz or Houllier, I am not fond of either option myself. I would probably chose Quieroz out of the two, because he led South Africa to qualification. I wonder if Sven turned down the Marseille job because he is still holding out for the USA job? That would suck balls if we had both Becks and Sven here. What a nightmare. I hope we just stick with Bradley for a while if he has some success. He knows our player pool a lot better than Arena seems to and I thinking this idea of openning up training to so many new faces is due to direct criticism of the Arena era, where the same group of lousy players, like Zavagnin and Ralston, kept kept getting selected for some reason. I think we will see some fresh faces and that will be nice.

no wonder we're not very good and can't play on foriegn soil against good teams consistently. Fricken Quatemala. I think they are scared to lose so they only play easy teams in easy environments.

damn right. US needs to take a risk. remember the friendly against Poland and Germany. those were real games even though it was only a friendly.
