im back off to france again in may so im planning to go watch some football :) if anything is on or visit one of their stadiums,
the proposed areas are toulouse, rennes and paris saint germain, so top of my list is paris ;)
but is a toulouse/rennes trip worth a go??
depends on when in may, if it's later then all the footie might be over.
although you can still visit the stadiums.
A toulouse rennes trip? How long do you have? I doubt you would want to spend a good portion of the day on a train and getting to hotels etc.

yh true, but i wouldnt go to both :p they are quite long drives etc, maybe a paris trip, stay a few days, visit the stadium, maybe watch a match would be best :) i was only thinking of a weeks holiday, but i might go for 2-3weeks

Whenever I see Nice's stadium I wanna leave and go there right then, and theres even a few apartments overlooking the pitch, now that'd be a dream to live in one of them! For atmosphere I would give St. Ettiene a go but my geography is very bad so it might not fit with your trip.

hm well, then it's a matter of personal preference. IMO, you should stick with Paris, but that's me talking with a good deal of bias. Best thing about the stadium of course, is that it's just a 10 minute metro ride from all the tourist sites on line 9 and 10

Since you have PSG-Lyon in May, I don't think you'll find a better match in Rennes or Toulouse. So like il2 said, stay in Paris. You will have plenty of things to do and visit. Plus, if you want to go somewhere else, you can travel very fast with the trains (just consider that, with the TGV, you can go to Marseille in less than 3 hours  ). And the tickets aren't much expensive :)
But Paris is the best spot, even if I'm sure you've been there before. "La plus belle ville du monde", you can't make beat that!
Rennes is more interesting when the season of music festivals begins. Great city though and a lot of students ;)
Toulouse is a pretty city with a great atmosphear but if I were you I would go on a trip to the Basque country (Biarritz...). You will have the beach, the sun, the fiestas and the ... GIRLS!!! :D Plus if you like Rugby, you will see better games than you'll ever see in Rennes or Toulouse.
So stick to Paris and just make a short trip to the Basque country. If you decide very early what you're gonna do, you could get some very cheap train tickets ;)

I'm a tad partial to the Basque as well. I have friends in San Sebastian and have been often, so maybe that is a reason. But, yeah, Biarritz has great rugby, much better than Stade de France but I am of course biased;) . Plus you have a good beach with sufficient waves for surfing (just like Brice de Nice:D).
One thing about the Basque is that it is not really as social a party place as some other places you could go. Not that the Basque don't party and aren't friendly, but a lot of favorite activities are mostly outdoor type stuff i.e. mountain biking, hiking, surfing, etc. Every Saturday afternoon in San Sebastian, we would go and hike up a little mountain and drink cider and eat at a cider house at the top. And every Sunday we go to my friends Sociedad and cook and eat or go to the beach (weather permitting). Week-end nights we mostly go out drinking (mostly wine) and going from bar to bar eating pintxos. Pretty simple, pretty easy. Very relaxing lifestyle. In San Sebastian. As for Biarritz, I would not expect it to be much different. But I could be wrong.

Biarritz is more touristic than San Sebastian, so there's a bit more partying going on imo.
However Rennes is good too. With all the students there is always partying going on in the center of town ;)
I would still go to Biarritz for the rugby and Paris for the footie though.

Nice's stadium is terrible! It wouldn't be allowed in Britain in the EPL or SPL. I've been once and once was enough.
Sainté is a great stadium, more in the style of a British stadium. Definitely worth visiting if there's a game on.
Otherwise, go to both the Parc des Princes and the Stade de France in Paris, at least for a tour if nothing else.

What about a trip to Le Mans? If you decide to go to Rennes it's on the way
The stadium is not that amazing but Le Mans is an emerging team with good young players
Maybe you'd like seeing one of the games there
THe 5th (about)they play against future ligue 2 team Nantes
The 19th I think they play against Bordeaux, might be a good game
If you decide to go to the Basque Country well make a stop in Gironde and watch a fame of the girondins! You can visit the wine region and surf in Lacanau (depends on the weather in May though)
Don't stay in Paris, PSG is not worth being watched this year though a fight for relegation in may might be interesting
