Here is where to talk anything to do with HSV

I bet they fire Coach Doll sooner or later
or they`re going down with him into league 2 :(
The players need a clear head now and he`s not the one who can put confidence into the team. I hope they fire Beiersdorfer too. Dont get me wrong, i like ex-Bremen players but his transfers turned out to be stabs in the back.

yea i have really been surprised with how HSV has played so poorley this year. i really thought they would be competeing for the title as they were last season but no, now were trying to stay in B1 :(

Lauth has joined Stuttgart till the end of the season on loan.

What happend with Beiersdorfer that you see it as back stabing.

macro

I remember a sideline TV interview with him shortly after they gave away Barbarez, Van Buyten, Beinlich, Takahara, Ailton and Boulahrouz. Man this guy was sweating. After the first question he was offended instandly, he started to kind of stutter and was very keen to get away.

And the guys he bought (Kompany, Mathijsen, Guerrero, Sanogo, Sorin) didn't made the impact they were hoping.

...plus Beiersdorfer totally blew the pay/salary structure of the team.
I.e. de Jong earns double the money that other top performers (<-- can i use that term refering to the HSV-team ? *g*) get but all he achieved was red cards. Sorin gets a big ass paycheck too, but was a complete failure so far. Van der Farts paycheck is a joke compared to those 2 players.

edit: anyone else reckons that they paid huge edit:hand-money to most of the new players ?

jak914

what do you mean by huge bargains because a bargain is usually something cheap....im a little confused sry

mambo
26-01-2007, 09:40 AM
Ups, lets try it with hand money :>

I tried to point on this because the players look like they cant run with the heavy money-packs on their back. They just dont look hungry anymore =(

selling barbarez was a mistake. the rest was ok. you cant keep a boulahrouz after the show he performed to get to chelsea. neither van buyten, munich was his fav. team since he was a little kid + hamburg cant compete munich's salary offer. And tbh it was good to sell beinlich, takahara and ailton.
Ljuboja is luckily only on loan. Kompany and Sorin were injured. Mathijsen made it into the team, i think he was a good transfer. Guerrero sucked even more than Sanogo. So overall, yes the transfer politic sucked. But the names alone have been promissing.
The missing teamspirit, caused by a lack of leaders, and all those nasty injuries are the reasons for the poor performance from my point of view.

I'm totally with you that selling Takahara was a good thing.
He can't stop scoring lately, he really became an ice cold finisher. (for us) :p

This is why things have not been going well:
Hamburg's problems diagnosed: goals too small
Hamburg SV have scored fewer goals than any Bundesliga club this season and the Hamburger Abendblatt newspaper has discovered one possible cause - the goals in their home stadium could be too small.

The newspaper reported that the goals in the Hamburg Arena stand 2.39 metres high, with the crossbar five centimetres lower than the prescribed 2.44 metres. 'Obviously we're going to measure that again,' HSV spokesman Joern Wolf told Germany's SID sports news agency.

'If those numbers reported are correct, we will make sure we have a new goal in place that conforms with the rules by the next match against Borussia Dortmund. It's a good thing no one hit the crossbar last week in the Energie Cottbus match.'

If confirmed, it would be another embarrassing setback for Hamburg, who started the season hoping to win the championship after finishing third last season. They are bottom of the standings and last week sacked coach Thomas Doll. [+] (http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story?id=407048&cc=3888)

I guess size does matter after all ;)

Sataris
06-02-2007, 11:27 AM
I'm sorry but that is retarted

you'd expect the goals of a 1st grade team to be the correct size

I'm with dittsche on this . . . thankfully the penalty against Mahdavikia wasn't the difference maker. I don't care if it's a player on my club or not there should be a hard line taken on diving. I also don't buy the argument that "everyone else is doing it." In the Bundesliga matches I've seen this season there haven't been more than a couple of obvious dives - and in one case the player was booked.

From hsv.de . . .

"Huge relief all round at HSV; Mehdi Mahdavikia can face old rivals Werder Bremen after all. The German FA (DFB), has announced that the HSV veteran winger will face no punishment regarding the penalty incident in his sides first home win of the current season at home to Borussia Dortmund last weekend (3-0). The Iranian utility player had been suspected of diving as he challenged the Dortmund keeper Roman Weidenfeller for a ball inside the area. Match referee Lutz Wagner stated after the game after seeing TV footage that he would make the same decision again, because in his opinion there was indeed contact between the two players. Had the decision gone the other way, Mahdavikia could have faced a charge of gross un-sporting conduct."

Looks like the matter is closed.

genosse27
16-02-2007, 08:42 AM
i like that referee. i didnt really see any contact tbh. and i am heavily biased!

andi möller was a totally different case tho. he dived with at least a meter distance to his opponent.

yea it is quite impressive how well the team has responded to a new coach. but in general when any professional team gets a new coach they win the first game with him because they have something to prove to the manager. but now that they have won 3 of 4 i am very optimistic about the future of the club this year. i really can see a mid table finish with a top half as a major goal.

an interesting tidbit from europsort today:

Kaiser Eyes van der Vaart

Bayern Munich president Franz Beckenbauer would love to see Hamburg's Rafael van der Vaart lining up in the Bavarian's colours next season. The Dutch midfielder ranks highly in Bayern's summer shopping list, although Hamburg are reluctant to let him go.

"He would be the one," Beckenbauer said. "He would be outstanding for us. But I do not think Hamburg will let him go."
Since his transfer from Ajax back in 2005,Van der Vaart has been somewhat of an enigma and although there is no doubting his natural talent, his progress at Hamburg has been hampered by injury and erratic form.
Van der Vaart has won 41 caps for the Netherlands and was made captain of Hamburg at the beginning of this season.

Van der Vaart has put down any talks that if Bayern do try and swoop him away from Hamburg he will reject them because they did not try and get him in the summer of 2005 when he signed for HSV instead LINK (http://home.skysports.com/list.aspx?hlid=468187&CPID=22&clid=161&lid=&title=Van+der+Vaart+rejects+Bayern)

Kinda surprised to see this happen but HSV have let Mehdi Mahdavikia go on free transfer. I wouldnt have guessed they would have let him go. he has been at the club for quite a while now and kinda surprised they let him go. He is being linked with BVB, Lille, and Deportiva La Coruna LINK (http://home.skysports.com/list.aspx?hlid=468132&CPID=22&clid=161&lid=&title=Hamburg+release+Mahdavikia&channel=&)

Anis Ben-Haira has signed a new contract with HSV keeping him at the club till 2012. i think this is a very good long term signing because you can deffinately see this kid has talent. he is developing quite nicely and am happy they have agreed to the contract. BUNDESLIGA.DE- GERMANY, When the final whistle went after the game against Alemannia Aachen, Mehdi Mahdavikia stayed on the pitch of the AOL-Arena.

Who knows what was going on in his head during the moment he ended his 8 year stay ay HSV. It was clear to see where his heart was as a couple of minutes later he fell into the arms of the mascot and started to cry his heart out.

damn that sucks. he really is good for the team. he will be very hard to replace on the team. why is it that he wants to leave so sudden. not even a year ago he was saying he would not leave for anyone and was making fun of bayern for not signing him. strange he changed his mind so suddenly.

he sure is very important for the club. but he cant be forced to stay here and to be honest, after all the pre-season-drama he put the club thru, i dont really think ill miss him that much next season. he is a great football-player, but unfortunately he seems to be a pretty weak character. vincent kompany said: "hsv played hundred years without van der vaart and sure will manage to play another hundred years without him", thats the way it is - players come an go, what stays is the club and thats all that matters in the long run.

that bayern-story last year was more like a personal issue between him and uli wurst. vdv was offered to bauern münchen before he went to hamburg, but they doubted his qualities back then. hoeneß mentioned that vdv wouldnt have enough class to play for a club like buyern. so vdv took the opportunity to pay him back when bauern showed interest in signing him.

bad news :(
huub stevens finally made his decision. he wont sign a new contract, so we need a new coach next season. imo this is very bad and it will be really, really hard to replace him adequately.
stevens will go back to eindhoven next summer to coach psv and stay with his wife. his decision doesnt come unexpected and is very comprehensible, since his wife lays in hospital in eindhoven and regarding the fact that he already coached and played for psv 17 years of his life. this is hard for us but you cant blame a man for going back home to his suffering wife.

jak914
21-11-2007, 02:18 AM
that is really bad news to hear but i completely understand why he is going back to eindhoven. you always have to think about your family first and this is what he is doing. he will be missed. i really hope we can find someone as good.

wonder if mourinho would attempt the bundesliga.....

chaouki
22-11-2007, 09:02 PM
i doubt strongly that mourinho will become the next coach of hamburg if this is what you mean by "attempt the bundesliga" because he would be too expensive . furthermore i don't think he would fit in the scheme the hsv chooses coachs. either ex-player or somehow connected to the club and therefore a person to identify with, or a man of renown who speaks german.

i tend to either one of the dutch coachs like guus hiddink, dick advocaat or thomas von heesen who is a former hsv-player himself.

so sad to see huub stevens leave but his decision is more than understandable.

I think they play 451 and Olic is doing a good job, so the spot is already taken.
He has to battle with Guerrero and it looks like Paolo is leading the race.

Masry

Yeah Olic is doing a good job (has 9 goals in Boundesliga? ). But he can also play behind him in 451 with van der Vaart. He didn't play in the previous ACN with the NT as a plain striker, he played behind the two strikers and scored two goals and helped to set up goals. He has the skill, the flair, and the speed and he is a good finisher. Hamburg didn't pay that sum to bring him to bench him all the time and give him only 10 minutes or so at the end of the match.

Guess the guy deserved the bottle in his face for what he said, even Mathijsen was on him.

Hamburg is cracking up :p

Seriously, they have to be really careful now. Sixth spot is enough to secure international football next season, but the other teams are coming closer and closer, and Hamburg in that form is going to lose even more games now.

Hell, what Guerrero did was plain stupid. Even though the fan probably was abusive, throwing anything towards him is really not the way to react. Neither is actually hitting him right on the nose :p

Last match for Guerrero in a HSV shirt? Probably...

...and Reinhard as director of sports, how is that supposed to bring the club to the next level  Dont think they will evolve much with him, he has zero experience.
I guess the HSV board just needed a marionette, so they dont have to share any power plus they can easily blame him when things go bad, ...and they will go bad.
