any reason why Messi won't be playing against us?

[EDIT] because he's injured... I'm retarded!
No Gallas or Saha for us it seems :(

I can't wait for that game! :)
Argentina really impressed me at WC06 so I hope to see really good football from both sides.

[EDIT] to the person who neg. repped me for starting this thread.

Do mean "stupid location" that it is at the Stade de France, or I picked a "stupid location" to post this? Please PM me, thanks!

About the game: I'll be there, so I hope it will be a great match. Of course I hope for the Argies to win but I doubt this will happen
But who really gives a shit? I mean, it's been such a long time since both teams last met that we just want to see some good football. There will be enough talented guys on the pitch to make it good (even guys with big heads who look at themselves on the big screens during the whole game ;) :D ).
Allez les bleus... et blanc

this is a would-be rematch of three should-have-been finals: 86, 98, and 06
but especially 98 because it would have been in this stadium
I have the feeling that this could be a great game, but I'm honestly scared of basile and his bad start could get worse
I don't like our midfield without mascherano or aimar (injured)
we'll likely see cambiasso, gago, lucho...and?? licha? I'd actually like to see what licha and lucho can do now that they're teammates
same with france's midfield, what's with all of those strikers?
maybe each team should just field 4 strikers and make a shootout of it

Indeed we should have met Argentina many times in big competitions in the past... Rendez-vous at the WC2010 ;)
About the strikers only Henry, Trezegol, Cissé and Anelka are real ones. Ribéry, Malouda and Govou are offensive midfielder.

Good football expected for that game :)

you will be there you fucking lucky bastard!?!?!?
I have never been to a France game and would do anything to see the boys play! The closest I ever got was when I was in Paris for the France - Belgium game in 2002 right before the WC, but I couldn't find a ticket and then Zizou got hurt in that game and the rest is history

Enjoy it for me too!
I think it's 50/50, both teams are full of excellent players yet they haven't all played together in a while so anyone could win it!!

I just hope it's a clean one and that nobody gets hurt!!
I also hope Raymond gives most attackers some game time!

Hell yeah! And the prices are very low: 15 euros for the worst seats. But you are forced to buy also a ticket for the next game against Austria :( . Ah well, could be worse.

You are lucky: Worst match ever! The defeat in the last minute, the pathetic ceremony for the team before they went to Corea (with chants, children...), captain Leboeuf... Awfull night!
I've been many times to the SDF but mostly for rugby games (6 nations, Autumn tests). Prices for Football are much higher now than when the games were played at the Parc.
Fortunately, as it's more difficult for them to fill the stadium now that Zizou is gone (who cares about big head Henry? ;) ), they close most of the time the third ring or they make big discounts on the tickets :) . Vive Henry! :D

I used to go to many games when I was in Paris : France-Italy and France-Brazil (Lyon) (1997 Tournoi de France with an amazing goal of Roberto Carlos!), France-Russie (we lost...), France-Croatia (the last game of the 20th century 3-0 for us  ), etc...
Those were the good times... now at Bordeaux I almost never go to a stadium... :( However I'll go for Bordeaux-OM in 8 days

Roberto Carlos and his free-kick in 1997 :

Trezegol HAD to play, his family is Argentinian!

La phrase de... David Trezeguet
« C’est un match qu’on a envie de gagner. J’ai suivi les interviews des Argentins : du leur comme du nôtre, il n’y a pas de match amical, mais une rencontre de haut niveau. Ce sera un test : on a envie d’être là et on va essayer de le gagner, juste pour situer notre niveau. C’est un match de prestige. Le stade va être plein. Moi de mon côté, j’ai motivé mes coéquipiers, on va essayer de tout donner.! » (Football365.com)

glad to see that Eric Abidal is not that injured!

I'm hoping for a great game and not a 0-0 draw like the France - Brasil 100th year of FIFA game!

Trezegol HAD to play, his family is Argentinian!
He is. He was barely speaking french when he came back in France. He received all his education in Argentina, his family is there, his friends also... He's Argentinian!
But with Domenech, you never know if he will do the thing that needs to be done. He could have left Trez on the bench just for the fun of it and for being contrary. Fortunately, he's also able to take good decisions... sometimes

Actually David's father is the son of French immigrants to Argentinia.I think Trézéguet is mostly French. Is Trézéguet's mom Argentinian?

Actually David's father is the son of French immigrants to Argentinia.I think Trézéguet is mostly French. Is Trézéguet's mom Argentinian?
Then almost no one is Argentinian since they're all coming from somewhere else
For example, my mother is from Argentina but her grandparents were from Spain and Italy.
Trézéguet's case is pretty simple: he's french just because he was born in France (because his father was playing there). All he knew until he was 18 was Argentina. The only reason why he kept his french nationality was for professionnal and financial matters. And if you compare the forwards in both teams at that time, it's not difficult to understand why France was a better opportunity.
All his relatives are from Argentina (his mother too), except his wife who's from Spain. He grew up there. Was schooled there. Didn't know a word of French. All in him is argentinian, except his passport.

But let the man talk:
Se suele decir "David Trezeguet, francoargentino". ¿Cuánto de franco y cuanto de argentino?
Trézéguet: Fui criado argentino y me defino como argentino pero siento un gran respeto por Francia. Me abrió las puertas como jugador ycomo persona.
Source (http://www.platense.com.ar/tintas/trezeguet/index.htm)
"I consider myself as Argentinian but I have much respect for France. France welcomed me as a player and as a person".

I thought David was half black half Argentinian.

Man what a mess....people should play for the countries they come from.

Even Patrick Viera isn't from France (although he moved there at a fairly young age and the country he was born in was a colony of France).

There's Brazilians playing for Croatia....

Either way, I'm pretty sure most people wouldn't mind if Trezeguet played for Argentina....France might not have lost the world cup had that been the case :p .

les bleues have run after the equalizer the whole game, but in vain...
pretty impressive the double wall makelele-abidal  better try on the other side... where there's sagnol however...
something did not work very well in the offensive midfield, they kept on throwing those high balls in the penalty area. I think vieira does a bit too much, he's not a coordinator...
great to see anelka back - and what a welcome from the public :p it seems like he could to some special things in partnership with henry. another come-back for the moral was cisse - for a couple of minutes domenech played with cisse, henry and anelka :)

the argentines have a very young team, and they keep on coming with hungry young guns. crespo played very well, physical, always opening spaces, also doing the defensive part. besides scoring the goal, saviola didn't show much. they've all played a very physical game, and I got the feeling that if they would've got in gutierrez earlier, they might've scored another one. oh yeah, and special mention to cambiasso, he was as strong as it gets.
if this is their new strategy, they've come back however to counter attacking game. so long for pelegrini's offensive style.

all we need is for Higuain to get a quick call-up to make it a lucky-13 ;)

higuaín has chosen argentina and if I'm not mistaken he has already obtained his argentine passport and is awaiting his first callup
what remains to be seen is if it's to the senior squad (copa america) or to the u20 in canada (I kind of hope it's the latter so I can see him play live)
as for the game, put *spoilers* in title
it's near impossible to beat france in france but ¡¡¡we did it!!! VAAAAMOS TODAVIA
but it was bittersweet
the ghost of pekerman sat on the bench today, an efficient win like the one we should have had over germany
we were the better team both offensively and defensively today, and this is exactly how it would have played out in the final
a real pity it didn't happen :(

SPOILERS FOLLOW in white:

The trend continues:

I hope he will be back for the Euro 2008 qualifiers!!

also:

sadly, I think this may have been Trezegol's last chance :(

congratulations to Argentina, it was cool watching Gaby and the rest of the defense completely smother nearly every attack. And what a goal by Saviola
