A collegue of mine told me about www.onlinetvrecorder.com and www.shift.tv/stv/ where you can record German Free TV.
I have not tried it out myself but he claims it works fine.
You make an account and advise which TV show to record and later download the video to your PC.
I don`t plan on using it myself, but maybe it is of interest to some of the foreigners who want to follow German football.
The DFB Pokal is usually shown on Free TV (ARD-Das Erste or ZDF) and also Shows with a summary of the Bundesliga matches can be seen on ARD-Das Erste, ZDF and DSF.
Monday`s second division Bundesliga match is shown live, I think on DSF.
They also show some of the UEFA Cup and Champions League matches on Free TV.
There is an article about such online tv recorders here at spiegel.de (all in German though) : http://www.spiegel.de/netzwelt/tech/0,1518,404552,00.html
