Champions for the sixth year in a row but still I think it was a bitter year for Lyon...Will they be able to make it for a seventh year? I have a bad feeling that they might not be up to the challenge next year...it's going to make the French league more exciting and seeing the way Marseille played the last few games they are going to be a good pretendent to the title. Lyon are in the need to change their squad but I still don't know what's going on? Here I hear that Juninho, Malouda, Baros and Houlier are leaving, there I hear that they stay for the next year
I also heard that Trezeguet and Saha might be potential targets to replace Baros though I seriously doubt it and that Fred is unhappy and goes against the club's decisions...
SO does anyone know something for sure and what do you think of Lyon's chances for 2007-2008?

Lyon will most likely win the title again next year. Even if Malouda, Abidal, and Fred leave, they still have the best squad in France by a big gap. The other clubs don't have the manpower to go the distance for 38 games. Marseille and PSG could compete financially but aren't stable.
Love or hate Aulas, but the other French clubs could do worse than to follow his example for club stability.

they'll certainly be champions again as all the other teams are too inconsistent :(
Lyon will not lose a lot of players as their president will not sell anyone for less than 35M ....
I also think Houiller won't be here next season;)

Champions League!! Champions League!! Champions League!!
Every year they destroy(literally) the group stage. I love the squad, but something needs fixing. I don't know what, but something just needs.
As for transfers. After not making an impact after ONE YEAR, looks like Alou Diarra might be looking for better pastures in the Premiership. Oh well, I like Toulalan. As someone mention, Saha might be coming in. I also heard Coupet is being pursued by Tottenham after a ridiculous season Robinson(England's no. 1 BTW) had. I don't expect anything happening though. Probably no big names seeing as how they won Championnat so easily.

Doesn't it get boring winning the league 6 years in a row?
And I hope you guys get Saha, he's way to injury prone, and is often selfish with the ball.

Sounds more like he's joining Juve, then a EPL side.

True. I was very sad when they lost against Roma after being so nice in the group stage
Do you remember this huge game against Werder Bremen? At that time Lyon had almost reached perfection:rolleyes: The teamwork and the will for winning were incredible
Lyon is by far one of the most interesting team in Europe now but I'm kind of afraid of what will happen in the season to come

it is so boring that I would hang myself if they win a seventh year...;)
are you insane? Would it bore you if ManU win the Premiership 6 years in a row? ANd it's not like if they win the league weeks in advance like this year, each year had been a fantastic suspense to know if they would make it or not

the only player likely to leave is Abidal as Lyon bought Belhadj. Also I heard he had many offers from Spain...and I don't see Coupet leaving lyon
As for the CL, I don't see Lyon getting past the 1/4s next year...

Younes Kaboul, a pretty good defender from Auxerre. With them finishing 8th, out of Europe and alot of teams pursuing him, including Lyon. Maybe Lyon can sign him to add some more youth to the back 4.

This means Malouda is 100% leaving.

This also means that Lyon won't need another winger (right?) and they will keep their hands away from Mancini.

I dunno.. isnt tiago rumoured to be leaving too? then they'd lose both him and malouda (seems quite definite about malouda).
anything official on the lyon website?
Edit: Its official. I use soccerassociation.com and noticed both boder and keita are under Lyon now. I dont think they make any changes unless they are certain.

Yeah, Tiago has stated he wants to leave. I guess he doesn't want to end his streak of staying at a club for more than three years. Probably will head to Italy or Spain.

Wow.. yeah.i'm pretty confident Tiago, Malouda and Abidal will leave.. along with Govou, Diarra and Wiltord. Keita is a pretty decent signing but Bodmer is amazing. Its sometimes frustrating that a good player like Bodmer doesnt get recognized by the rest of Europe. I dont see lyon chasing saha (not that good IMO) but i see Alaus chasing a striker and maybe another back-up winger since BOdmer is a midfielder. BUt when all is said and done, the champions league is what Lyon should be aiming for !!!!

I've heard that Barca were very interested in Abidal and they were offering cash as well as Javier Saviola, who will be leaving Barca anyway, for him

How serious in Lyon's interest in Ederson? Heard many clubs are after him.

I haven't seen anything about it here. It would be a stupid move for Lyon imo if they want to do something in europe...

Ha yea he is a shoe in. I don't know about this. I rate both players highly, but i just don't see them as the players that will bring us to that next step. They seem like just replacements, not improvements.

Keita is definitely an improvement over Govou ;) and Bodmer is a very good player with quite some experience in europe having played in the CL with Lille

According to RMC (a french radio) :
- Malouda to Chelsea for 17 millions + Lassana Diarra
- Tiago to AC Milan for 18 millions

Lyon has set a high price tag for Tiago. This reminds me of the Owen Hargreaves transfer saga. If AC Milan are as desperate for him as Manchester United was for Hargreaves, then this will happen.

France keeper Coupet hurt in Lyon training
LYON (Reuters) - France goalkeeper Gregory Coupet hurt his left knee in training with his Olympique Lyon club on Thursday, a spokesman for the six-times French champions said.
Tests will be conducted later in the day to determine how serious the injury is.
The Ligue 1 season resumes this weekend with the champions entertaining Auxerre for their first match on Sunday.

I heard Coupet could be out for at least 4 months and maybe six in the worst case
I guess Lyon will regret to have let Rémy Riou (a young & promissing goal keeper) leave to Auxerre this summer!

I guess he won't leave this year but maybe the next one!
He made a good pre-season with a good French Supercup game & he's almost a key player when Juninho is injuried which is actually the case.
