Ok, maybe this is a trivial concern, but why on earth are there MLS matches scheduled when the national team is playing tonight? Just seems weird to me.

Or as I would dearly love to say to Sunil Gulati if I had the chance:

Dear USSF,

In all my years of following and watching this lovely game, I want to congratulate you for a personal milestone. Until this evening, I had never known of any national federation which scheduled a national team friendly while carrying on with regularly-scheduled domestic league matches. Kudos for maximizing the amount of football available for local viewers to catch, where other federations would have shelved their own leagues for matches involving the national team so as to garner more viewership for the flagship team of the federation.

MLS have matches throughout the Gold Cup as do a number of other leagues

That's just weird to me. Ah well, maybe it's just me.

Yeah it's weird, but what's even worse for me is that Argentina's league doesn't stop for friendlies. They had one today and their league went on as normal. For a nation so deep in footballing culture and national pride, you'd think they'd give holidays when the national team plays.

Most (all?) of the Americas kept playing during the world cup.
