A good 3-0 win away from home for Rangers against one of their boogey teams from last season Inverness.

Lets hope Celtic can match this tomorrow :D

Why the pure ragin' face in the thread title,Jimmy?

Are you seething about something? Missing out on a sure fire tip of the month provided by a certain poster perhaps.:D

So it all kicked off and at least Rangers goals were a big improvement on those joke ones in midweek!

Looks like Gretna's dreams have been well and truly booted into touch, and maybe the Dons overperformance of last season has stayed there.

Good start for Well, but don't see it lasting. Celtic to win tomorrow, but I reckon it will be a bit tighter than expected, looking at their pre-season form.

Personally, as you might have guessed I'm champing at the bit for Monday night. Optimistic, but the cabbage team are a bit unknown. The Hibs looked good in the friendlies against Bolton and Boro, especially Benji and the youngsters Stevenson & McCann. Apparently O'Brien's fit to play aswell.

The only thing we can't account for is the Heart's jammyness and our goalkeeper's reliability (as always!).

I just hope Gordon Smith will be keeping an eye on the 'Diveometer' needle when a Hibby goes near a Jams player!:D

I hear the Hibees are in for the Zeta goalie.......he'll fit right in and keep the tradition well and truly intact.:p

Saying that.....the latest keeper seems to be made of the right stuff.

yeah not the fireworks i'd hoped for was kinda hoping we would hit the ground firing because of the moscow game on the horizon. kilmarnocks first point at parkhead for nearly nine years........i suppose they were due :D

yeah not the fireworks i'd hoped for was kinda hoping we would hit the ground firing because of the moscow game on the horizon. kilmarnocks first point at parkhead for nearly nine years........i suppose they were due :DI gotta ask why Magic started.. that was a shocker. Don't really fancy Killen or Miller for a starting place either to be perfectly honest. We were hard pushed for much goals pre season and it continues, majority of our pre season goals came from behind the front two, so no great shocker. Perhaps something for WGS to look into, hopefully. Esp. with europe on the horizon.

No great shame today, we done everything but score. Killie didn't threaten at all, the only shocker was we didn't hit the back of the net. 11 corners countless shots on and off target. Killie not even getting one attempt in goal. Mark Brown might as well have been sitting in the crowd or reading the Sunday Times.

I was looking at the fixtures, comparing Celtics to Rangers, and to Hibs, Hearts and Aberdeen, and well, at long last I can safely say no one's got it easy. The league has narrowed down a lot and things are going to be a lot righter, and because of this, it'll make for more entertaining football. Both on and off the park, give us something more to talk about.

Needless to say, a new forward wouldn't go a miss. Otherwise yeah. we're good. And i'm looking forward to the Edinborg derby tomorrow, shame we've given the bad guys a two point lead, but at least it wasn't no Fir Park 4-4 last minute rescue like a couple years ago. Our back line is near perfection and our midfield is pretty tight, and we have a decent bench to go with.

Glad gretna got pumped. English teams in Scottish football.. pfft. Unlucky for Aberdeen, last minute damn! Falkirk four goals in one game :eek: don't think their fans have seen that kind of score line since the days of the deadly Gow & Stoke partnership, here's hoping they follow up yesterday's result next week at Mordor ;) shame that new bloke for Caley couldn't feature, fancied seeing him play 90 minutes.

Onwards and upwards!

hail hail

p.s anyone else going to the spartak moscow vs celtic game in glasgow?

Good summing up apart from the polish ego being injured backed up by a rangers reject, the defence with a combined age that could rival the cast of dads army. A midfield thats made up of wait for it Hartley, Graveson, Evander Sno and Doughnuti. Nakas running on empty and one trick pony McGeady has been well and truly sussed out. Leaving Tragic Magic, Kenny Miller and the Hesslehoff to provide goals.

You have

Falkirk away :eek:
Spartak away :eek:
Aberdeen away :eek:
Hearts at home :eek:
Spartak at home :eek:

4-1 you beat them last season and you must have had 2/3? shots on goal today doesnt that make you slightly nervous going into the cl tie knowing that if you dont make it ALL the cl money goes to Ibrox? :cool:

Port, you're an idiot. I'm sorry, I've said it before, I'll say it now, and no doubt, will do, countless times to come.

Good summing up...thanks, now go away.
the polish ego being injured backed up by a rangers reject, the defence with a combined age that could rival the cast of dads army.Why would i mention Mark browns performance when he had nothing at all do to all afternoon? He was more of a by stander.

Celtic back line today
Wilson = 24
Kennedy = 23
McManus = 23
Naylor = 27

combined age of 97 / 4 = average age of 24.25

Rangers back line yesterday
Hutton = 22
Cuellar = 25
Weir = 37
Papac = 27

combined age of 111 / 4 = average age of 27.75

aye, yer very clever. the only bloke there who should be on dads army is yer man davie qeir.
A midfield thats made up of wait for it Hartley, Graveson, Evander Sno and Doughnuti. Nakas running on empty and one trick pony McGeady has been well and truly sussed out. Seriously, someone sack Alan Carr, and get this bloke on the Friday Night project. First of all the first two are established internationals for their respected nations with a combined total capping of 81 times. Evander Sno is a mere 20 years old, and already been with two of european footballs more known teams, and has caught the eye of one of football all time legends, Marco Van B. who seen enough in him to call him into the national squad. Whens the last time that happended for Rangers, oh wait, Dick only done it after he left Rangers, and then after the players had left Rangers. That's right. A tad bitter are we? Doughnuti? Who's this then? Ye getting yer bawwyy bawbag mixed up? Remember he wears blue top, not green n white hoops, here's another clue, he's the one who looks like one of the teens in Still Game, aye, ats right min, bang on, eh?

4-1 you beat them last season and you must have had 2/3? shots on goal today doesnt that make you slightly nervous going into the cl tie knowing that if you dont make it ALL the cl money goes to Ibrox? :cool:Scottish football is getting more competitive, and unlike you I welcome the challenge. Pretty boring being a two horse race is it not? Or did you start cheering on your team during the 'magnificent years' come to think of it, can't remember the last time Rangers had a trophy, league or cup to take home, yes that's right, all the silverwear you've been seeing has been finding it's way to Paradise, rightly so too. What exactly have Rangers done in the past two years? Aye, watch from a distance as we get richer, start to swipe the debt, bring in players of international recognition and youth. While Davie Murray digs deeper into his pockets to fund yet more tripe down Govan way, while at the same team the clubs finances go deeper n deeper in the red. nice one.

We had all the CL money last season, wouldn't be suprised if we'll see the same again this season, either way. Facts remain. Celtic 3rd pot. Rangers 4th pot champions league. Get it up ye. Enjoy you're time in europe, I don't know if it's more enjoyable watching you bunch struggle against minnows, or when you get beat with such bitterness.

Leaving Tragic Magic, Kenny Miller and the Hesslehoff to provide goals. Jan's the man. You're forgetting Killen, MacDonald and Riordan... (all proven goal scorers.) whit ye gonnae say now? i say; you're silly.

Nothing like watching an Old Firm match in full murderous flow!:rolleyes:

Gotta say that PortGlasgow might've got in a few early dirty kicks while firing plenty of shots in, but 404error definitely smashed the back of the net a few times in reply. If only his team's strikeforce were that lethal!;)

Makes me yearn for a daft Jambo to join this board.:D

Todays defence was missing old man pressley and Bobo seeing as Strachan might finally seen sense and dropped them for good, doubt it though. Strachan has proven beyond all doubt he has no sense at all, explaining why most of your fans are rightly calling for his head. Gone is the excuse friendlies dont matter! this wasnt a friendly

Just compare the two sets

Wilson / Hutton
Kennedy / Cuellar
McManus / Weir
Naylor / Papac

Even as Papac is struggling to adopt to left back I doubt theirs a manager in the SPL would pick Celtics back line over ours. Maybe when Caldwell comes back in and strips the thug of his position you may have something resembling a defence

Evander Sno is a mere 20 years old, and already been with two of european footballs more known teams, and has caught the eye of one of football all time legends, Marco Van B. who seen enough in him to call him into the national squad.

You really must be sniffing glue with that one, established international? resepected? I nearly choked on my kitkat. He was with 4 clubs in 2 years doesnt that hint at something? Ajax booted him to feyenord who swiftly loaned to Everton, then to NEC before being sold to Celtic. Sound like anyone else? Donati maybe?

Marco Van B. who seen enough in him to call him into the national squad. Whens the last time that happended for Rangers, oh wait, Dick only done it after he left Rangers, and then after the players had left Rangers. That's right.

I dont get it are you setting the level of achievement by who gets picked by Holland, eh. Rumours wide spread in Feyernord forums Van Basten only picked him as they get a lump sum payment from Celtic as part of the contract. I think its the only reason they could think of seeing as he's absolutely gash you can see it, I can see it. GASH Only reason he's played like Graveson is to either justify the wages or might fluke a good game and bring in a sale. If hes so good why is he on the bench behind Hartley?

I don't know if it's more enjoyable watching you bunch struggle against minnows, or when you get beat with such bitterness.

The majority of Celtic fans including you Jimmy enjoy hating Rangers more than seeing Celtic win this is a FACT. Sad sad bigotted world you people live in

Jan's the man. You're forgetting Killen, MacDonald and Riordan... (all proven goal scorers.) whit ye gonnae say now? i say; you're silly

all proven goal scorers? Scott "Helicopter Sunday" MacDonald how many goals against top table defences last season? One against Celtic and Hibs and where exactly does Riordan play? Do you know, DOES HE? Vennegor will struggle this season and I dont know Killen well enough to comment.

Celtic will struggle this season, cant beat Killie at the paddy shack in front of 60k+ fans oh dear oh dear trouble times ahead for the east end of Glasgow. Only Challenge will be Celtic making the cut nearing the season close ;)

/edit Big month for Celtic all the games are in August should be interesting viewing

Boy, am I a happy laddie tonight. What a result for the Hibs, here's hoping it inspires us for the rest of the season.

Although it was a bit of a rubbish match, I believe Hibs played the better football, especially in the first 20 and last 20 minutes. Hearts look a sorry bunch in my unbiased opinion.:D

Stevenson and Kerr were excellent in midfield and although Ma-kalambay is a bit of a flake, he has kept his 6th clean sheet in a row tonight. Also Celtic or Rangers should have went for Benji in the transfer window, as he looks as sharp as a Unicorn's napper.

For all of the criticism of Collins, he has rebuilt the team, brought in his own training methods and has had his first full preseason with them. Result - a win over our biggest rivals at their dump, I mean home and a team who don't seem to have suffered from the loss of some top players. Kick on!

PS: Old Firm - that's enough yer not getting any more of them.:mad:

Great result for Hibs tonight, glad for them, I've got a feeling this Hearts aren't going to be able to cope this season, Aberdeen next weekend away which'll be a very interesting match with both teams losing their opening matches. Hearts didn't really cause much of a potent attack so I'll leave my judgement on Ma-kalambay till another time. Totally agree with Hibby about Benji, he looked sharp as a knife.

SPL looks really strong, and with the opening batch of results things look good for a handful of the teams, and I can see Dundee Utd, Aberdeen, Hibs, Celtic, Rangers leading the way with Killie and Hearts not far off to pace. Gretna looked shabby and welli was really disappointed with ICT's performance, a little dismayed at Celtics, and suprised Aberdeen didn't hit the back of the net and steal the win against Dundee Utd, but Dundee Utd have got themselves a good keeper now, and I believe he's 2nd pick as their 1st choice got injured before the season started. Hopefully once ICT get the permit for Niculae they can get things going.

PortGlasgow, I can't be arsed arguing with you, as for your comments about rather seeing Rangers stumble than Celtic winning, I can assure you I take equally as much joy seeing my team win as you do, and seeing yours fall as you do mine.
