I personally believe that Amatuer football in South Australia is of a rather high level. Majority of those partaking in the sport take it seriously but not too seriously; that being breaking someone's leg to win a match, beware those muppets are still out there. Also I believe that all involved thoroughly enjoy being a part of football in Australia. I happily devote my Saturday's and the necessary weeknights in between for training, week in week out. I play for a local team in the upper Saturday divisions and have done so willingly for many years now, I look forward to every match and for the future seasons to come.

The only thing I dislike (& I do mean only) is running the line because I'm useless at it, so if you've played in SA on a Sat and have had a decision go unbelievably against you, sorry it was probably me. Unfortunately, barely anyone else puts there hand up to take the flag so I get plenty of practice at it, still.. yet to show.

I'd prefer not to disclose too much about my chosen team because most of you lot are aussies, so some day you may want to 'meet and greet me' due to heated discussions in this forum and I most likely won't want to meet you ;).

So please tell me of your opinions on amatuer/semi-pro football in Aust.

I visit this site regularly... http://www.saasl.com.au.. have a gander at the scores in Div 1/2 .. usually very competitive.

I'd love to get an overview of the league structure in Aust.

Best I could find.
Level 1: A-League

Level 2: Victorian Premier League / New South Wales Premier League /
South Australian Super League / Brisbane Premier League /
Western Australia State League / Other state leagues

Level 3: Victorian State League Division 1 / New South Wales Winter Super League /
South Australian Premier League / Brisbane Division 1 / Other State leagues

Level 4: Victorian State League Division 1 / New South Wales State League Divison One /
South Australian State League / Other State leagues

Victoria has an alright football representation. We got a league set up around here (centre victoria) and most of us play, although there is only 3 groups, primary, secondary and open. The big thing we got going around where I live is futsal, goes off!

I play Collegiate (in Adelaide).. we have some good teams too.
The competition is getting stronger all the time too.

A few of my mates play amateurs too. 1 at USC Lion, another at Uni Blacks and another at St Peters. A few others scattered around too...

And yes I hate running the line too. Always hate it when it's my turn...

I agree mate, this season here in the Toowoomba District League after one training sesssion, I did my ankle :( Tryed it tonight and it not looking the best.

On the subject of amateur football, the football here in Toowoomba and the surrounding areas is good, quite relaxed, but serious at the same time. However finding enough ladies that want to play does suck right now.
