Bremen's Wiese fumes at Loew

Werder Bremen goalkeeper Tim Wiese slammed Germany's head coach Joachim Loew on Wednesday for overlooking him while second-choice shot-stopper Timo Hildebrand struggles to get a game at Valencia.

Wiese, 25, is effectively no higher than fifth-choice German goalkeeper after Schalke 04's Manuel Neuer was summonsed for fitness testing in Cologne alongside the 22-man squad for Saturday's Euro 2008 qualifier against Wales.

With Arsenal's Jens Lehmann as Germany's first-choice shot-stopper, Hildebrand is just ahead of Hanover's Robert Enke in the pecking order for the reserve goalkeeper role, with Neuer confirmed as fourth and Wiese off the radar.

'I have top national and international achievements (with Bremen) and I do not understand why I am overlooked,' the unorthodox Wiese told German tabloid Bild.

'Instead, Hildebrand, who sits on the bench at Valencia (behind Spanish international Santiago Canizares) is selected or you have Enke, who has often been exposed. And Neuer hasn't played a complete Bundesliga season yet.

'Obviously, I do not fit into the circle of the German Football Association because I am not a conventional mainstream goalkeeper.

'I am not disappointed, but for me the subject of where I stand with Joachim Loew is a closed matter. It's clearly not up for discussion.'

Actually, Hildebrand is just better than you and Neuer has more of a future. Get over it. How often has Wiese made a start for the NT?

I dont think Hildebrand is better, he simply was there first and Klinsmann/Löw are bound to Stuttgart, so there never was a reason to change that position.

Actualy i think on the goalline Wiese is even better than Enke. In that discipline he is one of the worlds finest. Just look at the fantastic saves he had last year, especialy in the Champions League and in the KO-games of the UEFA-Cup.

Its was the same situation with Frank Rost. He should have taken that as a warning example.
The english guys should give him the citizenship so he could play for them, that would be a win-win situation :p

I would say the order should be

Neuer
Hildebrand
Enke
Wiese

I fully agree on the first part. And Wiese has every right to question Hildebrand's national team status, on current club status as for goalkeeping abilities.

Enke would be my first choice though. His calm is just phenomenal, a true professional and leader, and good goalkeeping abilities. Given a decent defense he could do great things.

Tim Wiese is often not quite so diplomatic as he perhaps ought to be, nevertheless, I find that he has reason enough to complain and is at least entitled to a few questions being answered.
Especially in international competitions he often showed a degree of excellence and no, I haven't forgotten the mistakes either.
