Fabregas: It’s A Three-Horse Race
http://www.goal.com/images/23794.jpg
Arsenal dynamo Cesc Fabregas has confirmed what everybody is thinking by refusing to rule Chelsea out of the title race and declaring “It’s a three-horse race.”
Current champions Manchester United currently sit at the top of the table on goal difference from the Gunners with Chelsea four points adrift in third place.
The Spanish international believes that all three teams have realistic title ambitions. "Who are our main rivals? Both of them, both of them," Fabregas insisted.
"I wouldn't just say Man United. Chelsea I can tell you are in a good position because nobody speaks about them but they are playing and winning.
"We will see what happens but I'm sure they will be up there up until the end.
"You can see Chelsea are playing maybe not as well as they used to do. They still win 1-0, 2-1 - that makes the difference at the end of the season.
"Man United are a very strong side. We know they will not lose so we have to be stay strong until the end.”
Fabregas has been in inspired form this season driving the Gunners on from midfield and believes Arsene Wenger’s side can still pip United and Chelsea to the title.
"We have to wait and see but at the moment it is looking good” he explained.
“There is a good combination of experienced players and young players. Everybody is happy, everybody is working hard and we are consistent. It is very important for a top team like Arsenal that we keep going.
"When we were doing the warm down after the Newcastle game the other day I looked around and everyone was 19, 20, 21 and 22. Apart from William [Gallas] and [Manuel] Almunia everybody was young."

4 points is such a close margin =), at one point we were 12 back last season and narrowed it to like 4-5 until our newcastle draw =/ he's right, bye liverpool, AV and city could knock you out of the top 4 in may, watch out.

I don't know...I'd be wary of Fulham now that they have an extraordinary player like CANADIAN Paul Stalteri ;)

Chelsea can/could keep the pace without their All-Star eleven:
Cech, Bridge/Ivanovic(?, will be one of the best defenders in EPL), Carvalho, Terry, ACole, Essien, Mikel, Ballack, Shevcenko, Drogba, Kalou.
There were times when 9-10 players were missing of them.
Fancy MU and Arsenal missing almost the whole starting line-up. We saw Arsenal vs Spurs in the League Cup. That was disasterous.
Liverpool can not compete with these 3 teams under RB. Sorry to say it.
Chelsea will be playing against their main rivals at home.
Victory against them will mean an EPL title.

Well if you would check the table, you would know that their cross town rivals are currently sitting in 4th position. So Villa and City would also have to knock Everton out of there as well.
Liverpool are now 17 points back. It is just not a reality that they will win the league this year. But that is not to say that they won't have a major role in determining the outcome. They still have to travel to Chelsea, Arsenal and ManU and the difference in outcomes in those 3 matches could determine who wins the league.
They're still a good team with a strong defensive record and have the same goal differential as Chelsea. They just drew too many that they should have won.

All three teams (MU, Arsenal, Chelsea) used to beat Pool, as it will happen this season too.
Liverpool are lacking quality defenders. Arbeloa, Riise, Hypia, Fabio A are 5/10 players. Carragher gave lots of penalty away to the opposite team. Their best Agger is injured all the season.
Gerrard though fantastic player is crushing under preassure. See the England internationals, he used to be amongst the worst players. (like vs Russia and Croatia).

Despite the fact that they are lacking quality in defense, they have still only shipped 17 goals. Arsenal have shipped 17 too. I think Chelsea have shipped 16 and ManU 11. They have also scored one more goal than Chelsea has. I think that qualifies as a good defensive record. And as I said, they only have 3 losses. That is the same number as both ManU and Chelsea. Their problem was just a handful of games where they drew when they shouldn't have, either because they gave up a late goal or didn't put the game away when they had the chance. They are still a good team and I think those numbers I just pointed out reinforce that.

I read it and agree with those numbers and facts. But a good team with good defence have to keep a one goal advantage or a 0-0 draw against teams like Wigan and Wham. They're not able to make it. Lots of precious points wasted.
There's some problem with the whole team. The defence is a part of that.
The difference between Pool and the other big guns are as follows.
MU, Chelsea and Arsenal can win even with below par play while Liverpool is not certain to win even with its best performance.
By the way Pool are not able to beat them for years now in the EPL (except that win against Chelsea last season).

Maybe he's right. Almost everyone is thinking it's battle between United and Arsenal but Chelsea don't lose many points. Next 2 weeks will be very hard. First one against L'pool and second with Tottenham at White Hart Lane. If they win both, they can get closer to the top.

though i'm a fan of man.u, i still hope l'pool could join in the race for the trophy. maybe this season is over for l'pool in terms of the champion. the premier league, i think, will be a lot more thrilling to watch if the big four could do their best.:)

I'm a Liverpool fan and will admit that the Premiership is beyond us this season - and so yes it is a three horse race. One I hope to see Arsenal win.
Whats wrong with Liverpool - too many draws. We have the abililty to win one off games but over a 40 game season we drop too many points when we should have all three. The defence has been fairly good this year but other than Torres we need a striker who can get the goal out of nothing
