Default Mario Balotelli...what is all the fuss about?

Hello,

I've read somewhere that Wenger may prepare a 20 million pound bid Mario Balotelli and I thought to myself everytime I have watched Inter and Balotelli play, I have not seen what all the big fuss is about or what is so special about him as a player other than the fact that he is black and Italian. Is this guy over hyped or something?

Are there any Serie A/Calcio aficionados out there that could tell me why he would be worth 20 million pounds and what type of player he is and what he offerst to his team.

I only watch Serie A matches every now and then if it's on the tube if I have the time, and some of Inters UCL matches and I would love to know everything about Balotelli as a player that you can tell me.

I remember Wenger saying he's a player that excites him not more than a month or two ago and I thought why? what is so special about this kid cos I aint seen it. That said I'm no Serie A aficionado so if there are any Serie A hardcore fans out there please fill me in?

Apparently, he is a big talent but he has one of the worse attitude i've seen among any players.

I'm a big Serie A guy and I can tell you it's pretty easy to see what's so special about him. He's very fast and very strong, has a power going forward that you want, especially from your striker. He's 19. He can shoot from distance very well, his technique is superb (as gimmicky as it may have looked that ball he heeled back overhead to a teammate off the sideline last year was ridiculous). He can dribble, he can score, is already a damn good finisher. He can pass the ball well and even though he very obviously is a CF he can play on the wings, even in midfield (a waste). His attitude may not be the best but, despite how well Mourinho dealt with that last year, Mourinho has given him some reason. He's got no chance to do anything this year (same with Santon) and he was wasted out of position last year. I don't get that.

Kicker says he got some abuse for being black from the opponent fans,
that's why he wants to leave Italy.

Balotelli has had plenty of racist abuse, which i feel has a lot to do with how he acts on the pitch. Then he kicks someone in the air or hits someone and he gets even more abuse. It'll never end unless he leaves Italy. As far as his footballing ability is concerned, yes he is talented and could become a great player, but right now he is no more talented than a lot of other footballers his age. Wenger could do wonders with a player like him.

That is by far a scapegoat. He is hated more for his behaviour and attitude than the colour of his skin. People forget that before he ever played professionally in Italy Matteo Ferrari and Fabio Liverani (two black players) had worn the national shirt.
