the only reason its an option is because he might be willing to take a pay cut and also a lower fee to attempt to get a place for WC 2010.
I get what you're saying. I think Bayern would be making a mistake to sell him. I imagine Roma could bring in someone younger with a bit more pace. Is money an issue for them?

Anyways, I'm very willing to part with Menez and Baptista, if that's what needs to be done to raise the funds for Negredo from Madrid. Baptista I'd just get rid of. Menez I'm a little less eager since he's young, but so is Negredo, and Negredo is well ahead of Menez in development.
id be very pissed if we sell menez. but with baptista it depends. if we are gonna sell to bring in some in-experienced and a risky player like negredo then no thanks. anyway i have a feeling the beast will do good this season so lets keep both of them. our squad is fine.we have what it takes to win the scudetto and this probably how we are gonna play this season:
---------vucinic----totti---------
menez---------------------taddei
---------pizzaro--derossi---------
-riise----juan------mexes-----motta
---------------doni---------------

slot in Guberti for Menez perhaps.

and aiming for the Scudetto is nice, but realistically not a goal i think Roma should be shooting for at this time, unfortunately.

I'm sorry to say, but if we somehow win the scudetto, it will be due more to Juventus and Inter grossly underachieving domestically, than it will due to Roma being a great team in Europe this year. We don't have the overall quality throughout the first team and bench.

I would argue that our squad is not fine, if what you're aiming for is a scudetto. Baptista, well, he was just plain horrible. Menez hasn't impressed at all in league, but I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt due to his age. I'm very disappointed that we couldn't make it happen to get Negredo.

Realistic goal for Roma this season would be #4 in league to at least qualify for CL and perhaps try to make a run at winning Europa. Both of those assume a relatively healthy campaign for Totti.

Burdisso a Roma player now.

happy about strengthening the backline, happy he took a wage cut so we dont break the bank...

but still think we could have done a little bit better than....Burdisso. never was all that impressed with his play at Inter...so i hope he has better to offer.

this could release Andreolli to Bari, but we need to be careful. Mexes serving a ban for week 1 v Genoa, and Juan is out hurt. so if Burdisso is available he'll need to play straight out and partner either Cassetti, Riise, or Andreolli

Like I said in the other thread, you should make a move for Kaladze and Oddo. I know Oddo being an ex Lazio player would make it difficult but he would be a good sub to have.

oh god, they are both just as terrible as Burdisso, and all those PK's Oddo scored against, us. would never happen, thank god

as i said, Roma can do better...not really all that thrilled. but i have faith Spalletti can get something out of him for the year
