Player strike?
First the NFL, then the NBA, then La Liga, and now......
Strike threat to Serie A
Quote:
Italian football's governing body may have no choice but to postpone the first round of Serie A games because a new collective bargaining agreement has not been signed.
Emergency meetings were held on Thursday in Milan in the hope that the Lega Serie A and the Italian Players' Union (AIC) would reach common ground.
The players have threatened to strike if a new agreement is not signed before Saturday, when the season is due to get under way.
A statement from the federation read: "The Lega Serie A will not accept further mediation and will not sign the collective agreement with the players' association (AIC). At this point it seems more probable that the first round of Serie A games will be postponed.''

I hope the FIGC crumbles and gets dismantled. Best thing that can happen for Italian football.
On the other hand, I have been itching to watch some Serie A.

Agreement reached to end Serie A strike
Quote:
MILAN - Italy's football strike effectively ended on Monday when Serie A and the Italian Players' Union (AIC) buried their differences and signed a collective contract.
"A new collective contract, valid until the end of June 2012, has been signed today," the Italian football federation (FIGC) said in a statement.
The FIGC said the contract was signed in the presence of its president Giancarlo Abete, Serie A president Maurizio Beretta and AIC president Damiano Tommasi.
"The signing followed a meeting in which the legal representatives of the two parties ironed out the final details," added the statement.
The announcement means that Serie A can start on Friday with the meeting of defending champions AC Milan and Lazio.

This agreement was signed just to start the season, next year the saga will continue. After the Euro no less.

correct which is why its not really that big of a deal to me. glad to have the football back, but Tommasi and Beretta and everyone else knows its interim and basically a buffer to get calcio on the pitch. the disagreements havent been solved.
