Default Diarra extends Fulham stay

Diarra extends Fulham stay
Defensive midfielder extends his deal until summer 2013

Fulham midfielder Mahamadou Diarra has extended his stay at Craven Cottage by another year.

The Malian joined the West London side during the January transfer window after being without a club since leaving Monaco last summer.

The former Real Madrid player, who once cost a reported £22million, initially signed a deal until the end of the current campaign.

However, after impressing manager Martin Jol, he agreed to exercise an option to extend his deal until summer 2013 on the eve of his 31st birthday.

Diarra, who has won four French and two Spanish titles during an already illustrious career, made 11 appearances during the second half of the season as Fulham claimed ninth place in the Premier League.

He scored one goal - against Bolton at the start of April - but impressed in a holding role for the Cottagers.

Excellent news, I think. How would you rate his performances so far?

Diarra is a great plater. Its a bit weird to think that when RM hired Capello, he only wanted one guy in the team to solidify the core of the team and that was Diarra. We won the League due to this guy and he also scored the goal that got us the league. Hope he plays well in Fulham, great player.

Quality signing mate wouldnt have it any other way. He was a revolution for us second half of the season. When he plays he is a real beast and presence about his play. He cant pass a ball to save his life but he knows how to win it back and he likes to get forward alot.
