Default Interview with Terry Butcher

Terry Butcher, the old hero of the english national, is an outspoken person and he gave an interview in the swedish press yesterday.

This is some of his views.

Svennis and England are very lucky. Sweden should have won, why did they feel contend with just 2-2.
They had England by the balls before Gerrard scored 2-1.

The English team is a bunch of Primadonnas and they don't want to be criticised.
Owen's injury is a blessing, now Sven doesn't have the pressure to play him anymore. He's not good enough at the moment.
Eriksson kan finally play a system that gives space to both Lampard and Gerrard: 4-5-1 and that will give England greater hope in the Cup.

Now it's only Beckham that is the problem. If he gets injured or penalised it will improve England's play.
Lennon is better than Becks, he works harder.

Lampard has recently said: "There's nothing worse than old players who think they know the truth. If I'm like that in 30 years, please shoot me."
And it was directed towards Terry Butcher and his column in Sunday Mirror so those two chaps are not friends.

"That bastard blames me but he doesn't blame Alan Shearer who has been even more mean to them", says Butcher.

What's up with that guy, "Captain Blood".

maybe mr. butcher don't speak english very well. he could have said "sweden COULD have scored more goals and win the game. because they played a lot better in 2nd half." saying a particular team "should have won" sounds like mourinho. and after gerrard came in, england didn't improve much... it was more of a tactical thing to pack the midfield. it could have been carrick or jenas..but they might not have scored. i'm not being optimistic about england but he's just being pessimistic, imo.

i agree with him on 4-5-1 and beckham..but i'm not so impressed with lennon's crosses.

Anyone that's ever read anything that has come out of Butcher's mouth knows he's an indiganant and somewhat xenophobic twat. You learn to ignore him.

Well, I don't read english papers except of Guardian Online so I don't get to see these quotes from him normally.
It looks like he's part of "the worst enemy of english football" now, the tabloid papers.

Apparently he's buying foreign journalists beers all the time if they stay and listen to him.

One swedish sport reporter wrote that he will be trying to sneak past Butcher next time in the pub because he hasn't got the time to get drunk again and he already knows Butchers views on English Football - after more than a couple of pints with him.

Well I don’t read that much English news too -only the BBC site- but I have 2 things to say about this.
Butcher sounds far less then objective.
And if you know anything about what you are talking about you would know that players like Owen and becks can change an entire football match with one touch. Specially Owen and beckham (of the entire team)

All in all it looks to me as one of the usual English media blah blah.
This is the worst thing about English football. I’m starting to think that this plays bigger part then we think in the fact that England didn’t get too far in the recent 40 years.
Beckham says it for years – he always says that the pressure from the media scaring the players and keeping them from showing their best. And if someone knows anything about relationship with English media – it is David beckham.

So he's actually saying that Beckham, the guy who won the first two games for England is a bad player... interesting, very interesting. I wonder if he's had an unsuccessful eye surgery lately.
