Default Vilarreal [2011-13 Spoilers]

Relegated! What the heck happened? It was only 10 months ago I was hoping they'd get out of their very tough Champion's League group. Were Rossi transfer rumours followed by Rossi's (and others) injuries enough to derail them? Was the drop off from Cazorla to DeGuzman that big of a deal?

There is still a roster of players that one wonders if they'll be able to hold on to. I imagine Malaga will be licking their chops.

Diego Lopez
Cani
Marcos Senna
Borja Valero
Giuseppe Rossi
Nilmar

All players who I can imagine being on the move this summer. The days of Forlan, Riquelme, and Sorin seem like a long time ago now. So long Yellow Sub, I hope you're back up again soon.

RIP for now but hopefully they can come back, I actually thought they would be the third team in Spain at one time but I thought about Sevilla being that too..Its good to see Valencia are still hanging on ..Malaga and Levante have taken up those positions now

From what I gather, it essentially came down to money, like so much does in football. Roig's losses from the economic downturn precipitated everything - they couldn't keep investing as they did before so they promoted youngsters perhaps before their time, their signings weren't the quality that they needed even despite adjusting their targets for the season (that Colombian defender in particular was shockingly bad all season, I dunno how he played so much), then changing coaches every 2 minutes... it all seemed very different from the planned, structured approach they'd had in Pellegrini's time. Everything kinda piled on I'd say. If you sell a linchpin like Cazorla without the means to replace him, you definitely can't afford to lose Rossi for the majority of the season as well.

All the same, I'd expected the more experienced guys to steer them to safety at least. Senna was right, at the end of the day they have no one to blame but themselves. Come back soon Yellow Submarine, you will be missed.

nah man it was injuries and just general slack play at the back, complancy maybe and those who came up from b to fill in couldn't cut it i dun remember a single weekend where the three amigos were avalible for selection.... sad to see so many leave as well as b demoted as consequence things look in order and despite cup promotion is paramount and hopefully rossi sticks around next season finances allowign and puts yellow sub back to the higher depths

some only left on loan which is good, makes up for television shortfall for fee and unloads some wages while being able to go, between pandiani and cavenaghi, rossi can't come back to fitness soon enoughhmm
