I don't think it would be allowed, which is a shame IMO. The WCQs were useful to give some sense of continuity to the team and slowly build chemistry both on and off the pitch, and I think we're going to miss it.

I, for one, believe that friendlies are completely worthless, specially when it comes to drawing positive conclusions.
If your team plays well in a friendly, it means nothing. If you play poorly, then you might learn a thing or two.

CBF has the annoying habit of setting up way too many money-making friendlies against lame teams all over the world. I really hope they reconsider that strategy for the next 3.5 years and set up some friendlies against top competition on a regular basis. Ideally, at least 3-4 tough friendlies a year, which is the sort of action we would get in the WCQs.

In theory, the Copa America and Confed Cup were supposed to be useful, but it's not like our results in those competitions translated into decent WC performances lately, so I'm very cautious when using those to gauge potential now.

I thought the same thing going into 98, Brazil were a mess trying to get that ill-fated RoRo together...but then they made the final against a French team who also didn't have to qualify suffered to build a coherent squad...but then won the final.

It doesn't matter who Brazil hires as coach, Spain is going to win the next World Cup. Its a Spanish world and we are all just living in it.

That RoRo attack was dynamite. I still believe that if Romario was there we might have won. And I'll never understand what happened to Mauro Silva. Sampaio was terrible. Still bothers me.

Well, seems like they're set on doing that indeed. Half of that is already done, anyway.

Brazil and Argentina have agreed on playing 2 friendlies a year, starting in 2011. One at home, one of the road.

Apparently it's a re-edition of some Copa Roca, never heard of it.
Well, if they're playing for some pride and an actual trophy, even better then. It is certainly gonna keep the players more motivated for a friendly.

Brazil are playing against the USA Tuesday night, but according to Myp2p Brazil are also playing China on Wednesday night. Both full international matches?

Must've been some mistake, it's not there anymore.

Well well, either way, what did you guys think of the game against the US?

I thought it was better than expected. The fact that Ganso, Neymar and Robinho played together certainly helped with the offensive chemistry in an otherwise group of players with zero experience with each other.

The midfield was interesting, with Lucas, Ramires and Ganso. Both Lucas and Ramires have decent defensive skills and are still fairly good with the ball, so it helps setting up plays.

That David Luis CB kid was a pleasant surprise, looked pretty solid.
André Santos at LB seems like one of the best choices available.
Dani Alves looked lost most of the time.
Pato seemed in a very different pace from when he got a few callups a while ago. More active.

I was at the game and they were all (minus Ramires) impressive. Neymar is nowhere near ready tho. Ganso had some kind of first half tho. He's ready now.

Lucas looked great, but I don't think a combination f him and Ramires is gonna work; not unless we play 4 in the midfield (tho I think we will).

It will still be interesting to see. If Kaka gets back to his old form he's going to get his chances. And if Ronaldinho stays in form so will he. Same goes for Lucio and Juan and Maicon. And the one I'm most interested in is Diego. I think he's better than Ganso.

David Luiz was really impressive. Andre Sanos as well.

Loved watching the friendly, seemed like their was so much more joy in the team then under Dunga. I know the pressure level was way lower, but it was awesome to see the young guys out there having some fun. Andre Santos was a beast IMO, lots of dangerous attacking play.

Does anyone know anything about the newest Neymar to Chelsea rumors? I read online that he met with officials and agreed to personal terms while the NT was up in NY, but haven't seen that on anything other then goal.com so I'm hoping its bullshit like most their news.

I'm scared for his development if he goes to England, doesn't seem like the best place for a damn skinny 18 year old.

I'd agree with that, but considering how he plays it can work. He's got time.
