Default Ben Williams - a disgrace to Asian football *spoilers*

the vid says it all

this is a 2010 Asian Games Men's Football Match Group A in Guangzhou
China vs Malaysia
the referee of the match Ben Williams from Australia

a clearly one-sided refereeing for the host nation's team by the referee when he let loose 3 red cards and loads of yellows to the Malaysian with the host Nation (even with those rough tackles) no card whatsoever...kinda obvious right??

1st red card : he received his first yellow on the 2ND MINUTE!!! when he should have just been warned, for the second yellow u can see clearly in the replay, the player saw another ball had been thrown in so its just obvious to kick another ball away, n the ref called it for time wasting..what a joke and and that time, only 24 minutes had passed, TIME WASTING??

2nd red card: he's the captain of the team so isn't obvious to question the decision of the referee especially when he called it wrong? WELL DONE BEN!!

3rd red card: soft tackle if u would call it a tackle and by the time the Chinese player GRACEFULLY fell, no one touched him...

It's not as if anyone playing against us really needs the help, to be honest.

That's a joke! He should never referee again.

Damn, I feel sorry for these guys and those first two red cards seem a bit extreme imo. between the refs in football and basketball officials, I dont know which one is worse right now.

Sigh. On the bright side the national team is making some sort of progress, managed to reach the knockout stage of the Asian Games for the first time in 32 years, even with nine key players missing from the squad. Even if the format was forgiving, at least we made it through. Now if we can only have some continuity within the setup, we should continue building on this. Next step, win the AFF Cup!

yup.. i agree, this is a relatively young squad (U-23 with 3 seniors) and with the amount of injuries to key players such as Aidil, Zaquan,Norhafiz and the suspensions caused by a particular referee we still managed to squeeze pass the group stage.

with the upcoming AFF Suzuki Cup, hopefully some key players manage to get back to fitness and deliver a great performance in the tournament. Malaysian football is coming back..and we'll always be proud to support them all the way

Ben Williams managed to did it again in the Asian Cup 2011...

poor Kuwait got one man sent off (the other should be sent off too as he kicked the Kuwait player balls first), and a goal disallowed...

footy refs are way worse, whenever i watch an NBA game, the refs seem to get the vast majority of the calls spot on, and then you like at the epl......
