The tournament starts soon on the 21st January, so who does everybody think will win?
Thought I would mention that there will be another ACN January next year as the organisers no longer want the competition to happen in a World Cup year again, so it'll be uneven years from 2013 onwards and every two years as usual. I can understand why they did it, but I like having both competitions in the same year
I've also always preferred the ACN to the European Championships and the Copa America It just seems more fun.
I'm kinda bummed that I don't have an option convenient to me for watching on TV here. That'll definitely affect how much I am going to be able to keep up with the tourney.

This, I wish it had more coverage here (anywhere?). Very few articles I see about it beyond how the missing players affect league results and such.
Excited to see Senegal's attacking abilities with all the talent they have at forward.

En.aljazeerasport.tv has one channel (called Global) which is free & not geolocked so unless they change things when the tournament starts you should be able to watch quite a few games.

That’s one of the many reasons I like these tournaments. Unlike leagues or cups with clubs, international events tend to be more a little more unpredictable even if the quality is lower. Plus you can see teams and players that you normally wouldn’t get to see. Honestly, I enjoyed most of the tournaments last year (Asia Cup, CA, U-20 WC, WWC) more than the World Cup.

The latest World Soccer magazine has a good preview. Also check out http://sandalsforgoalposts.com/ . They’ve got previews, players to watch and more articles as the cup progresses. Unlike a lot of sites, it seems like they actually know a fair bit about African football.
MTNFootball.com and supersport.com are mainstream sites which will be covering the tournament.

agreed. didn't have a chance to follow asia cup but CA was great (yes i know some will say lack of scoring made it dull, but for those of us who prefer betting the under it was great ). only ones i've never gotten into are the U-20's and the such. and my book offers lines for U-16s and stuff occasionally too...betting on 16 year olds...man that goes against my moral codes. really am looking forward to this tourney, gambling aside, like you said just to watch some players and styles i haven't had a chance to see.

I don’t bet on youth tournaments (morality aside there are just too many unknowns) and I usually only watch U-20 level. It’s good enough quality and occasionally you get to see people like Messi, Aguero, Saviola, and Mikel (he was actually good then) burst onto the scene. Below that age-group, I’ll tune in to the occasional game like at last year’s U-17 WC in Mexico but that’s about it. I saw this guy called Coullibaly score a bunch of hat-tricks for Ivory Coast in that tournament which was cool (signed for Spurs right after) but you never know if these guys will make it.
Back on topic. The World Soccer mag I mentioned earlier is actually on the site in pdf format in the Mediaroom.

Reason: I meant to say last year’s U-17 WC. Keep forgetting it’s 2012.
Check out Jonathan Wilson's coverage of this year's ACN, he already wrote two pieces. He also had a short appearance on yesterday's Football Weekly.
I also recommend the last French Football Weekly (in English), there is a very interesting middle section about the ACN with the African football expert Gary Al-Smith from Ghana. The discussion starts at about 22 minutes in.
