Thumbs up Reina wins Premiership goalkeeper award

Jose Reina has collected the Barclays Golden Gloves Award for the 2005-06 season.

Barclays Sponsorship Director Matt Appleby said: "To win the Golden Glove in his first Barclays Premiership campaign, and at such a young age, shows Reina's potential.

"He has used this season as a springboard onto the international scene and has seen off the challenge of some world-class players to keep the most clean sheets.

"Reina has been part of an outstanding Liverpool defence that will surely build on their success to make a serious challenge for the title."

Steven Gerrard won the Player of the Month award.

yeah, he had a good season, but "young" he looks so old with that balding....

Its hard to say he deserved it because he's a scouser....but i can disagree with the choice
Great keeper, to bad he's behind Casilas for Spain

Excellent reward for the lad. He's had a top season along with the whole defence. What I love about him is that he organises and shouts at the defence when its needed, I don't remember Jerzy doing much of that (like Carra has pointed out before, he's too nice sometimes) Although he doesn't make as many world class saves as other goalkeepers, he does the routine things well and he doesn't make many mistakes (touch wood). That is consistent goalkeeping

I would have went with Given....He gets worked overtime everygame and saves Newcastle from crushing defeats. He is one player who is never been rated high enough and imo deserved this award more then Reina after another great and consistent season.

I would have to agree with zaffo... If Given had the defence Pepe did, it would be very even. Although I must say that Robinson should have been in with a shout too.
