Tiranis suggested I start a thread giving people the heads up on some prospects and possible stars in the future. Every year there are a bunch of players who stand out.
The first prospect I'll bring up is Wagner Ferreira dos Santos. Wagner is 21 plays for Cruzeiro and is currently having a break out season. He is a left-footed offensive midfielder/second striker (more the ladder) who has quick dribbles and devastating accuracy in front of goal for a midfielder (like a Kaká). He is also a free-kick specialist. He is not as good of a passer as a Ronaldinho or Alex (Fenerbahce), he is a player who will look to score more than to give a pass. He is still capable of great passes though. Despite all of this season as an offensive midfielder, he already leads the Campeonato Brasileiro with 8 goals in 10 games. He has played for the Brasil U 17 and U 20 squads.
Here is a clip of Cruzeiro's last game before the World Cup. Wagner had one assist and two goals. The assist was on the second goal and his goals were the teams 3rd and 4th.
This is another great game Wagner had. Starting at 32 seconds, he receives the ball on the right-wing, beats his marker easily and puts the ball on a teammates head but he couldn't finish. At 2:26 he attempts a left-footed volley. At 2:54 he scores a goal. At 3:33 he receives a ball on the left-wing, looks up and puts it right on Elber's head who scores.

The next player is Lenny who plays for Fluminense and is only 18. This kid is special. He is a striker that is already being compared to Romario because of his calmness in front of goal. Against Cruzeiro he scored two memorable goals in the Copa do Brasil. Arguably the brightest prospect IN Brasil at the moment along with Wagner.
There is also Thiago of São Paulo who is a 20 year old foward that, personally, I have not seen a lot of. Maybe Bandeirantes can speak a little bit about him. And of course there are two prospects that everybody knows about, Kerlon of Cruzeiro and Anderson ex Gremio and current Porto player.
Here is a clip that shows 4 Clubes..Cruzeiro, Gremio, São Paulo and Fluminense and their 4 revelations Kerlon, Anderson, Thiago and Lenny.
Thanks man... that's some cool stuff by Wagner right there. Just one question—was he linked to any clubs in Europe so far, or nothing? Not that he has to go there, but I think if he is to play for the NT then he should go to Europe...

He's been linked with some teams already in Portugal I think. With Luxemburgo (most likely) in as the new coach of the national team, I don't think it's necessary for players to go to Europe. In fact, in Brasil people are asking for a more 'national' team because they feel the players that are in Europe have nothing to play for and play with no heart. There was a 4 part special article written in Brasil about the state of the national team and things like this. I will translate it when I get the chance.
By the way everybody...More to come with the Young Prospects..stay tuned
I dont really follow Brazilian football all too much but Nilmar is a player that I have been hearing that is a good player.
True... but I asked R9 to highlight mainly the prospects who are playing in Brazil and are not very famous here in Europe.
Nilmar already signed for Lyon, though they can't play him, because of the limit on foreign players in the French league...

That's good to know then. On that note (despite him not playing in Brazil) do you have any idea if there's a chance of Alex playing for the national team? I know he was out of favour since he's been playing at Fenerbahçe, but with his skills he surely must be a contender at least for a place as a substitute. :-\

I'm guessing there's a chance he'll be called up because Luxa was coaching Alex in 2003 when Alex played the best football I've ever seen in a Campeonato Brasileiro. Obviously the chances he will start are slim since he would be battling Kaká and Ronaldinho for the spot. People can say that Alex plays in Turkey therefore he shouldn't be compared to players who perform in the "big" leagues, but to me, he is still one of the best players in the world. He IS brazilian football and everything it stands for with his style of play. One of my favorite players ever. With Luxa, chances are he will come back to the seleção
Just in case someone hasn't seen this incredible compilation, here it is..This compilation tries to show that he is the complete #10:

Yeah, obviously, but it would be nice if he at least was on the bench and got to play once in a while so he could prove his worth. And maybe if he played really well he would get a permanent spot...
And anyway, he played in Brazilian league, right? And he played very well there so he's proven himself there too... btw I checked his stats for while he was at Parma: 5 matches - 2 goals - 7 assists!!! That's a crazy statistic... I'm not sure what matches he played, but they were some league matches, so that's very impressive, imo.
