Wow that kid Jean Carlos Chera is something else, looked too small in the clips from 2000 & 01 ,but from the 04 clips looked really strong like a minutaure Maradona, even from that video and what age he is i think the kid has run out of goal celebrations.

Hmmm..Good question Toscano. It seems like we are a little low on great volantes (at least in comparison to other positions). I'm not a big fan of Marcelo Mattos but he's a good player. Denilson is also a player to look to in the future. Out of the 5 names you two suggested, the one I like the most by far is Arouca. I also think that we shouldn't discard players that are in Europe (but still very young) like Thiago Motta (still only 24) or Dudu Cearense. In Brasil, we should also keep an eye out for Rodrigo Souto (Figueirense) and Renan (ex São Paulo currently on Juventude) both are still very young (23 and 21) and look like they could have a bright future.

To be honest, the volante position is very tight right now. We do know that our best volantes will not be around in 2010 (Edmilson, G.Silva, Mineiro, etc) so this is the chance for somebody to show what they can do and win the position. Copa América will be a great opportunity for someone to shine but we'll have to see who Luxemburgo (basically has the job already) decides to call up.

EDIT: I guess we'll find out who Dunga will call up...what a stunner, never expected him

Agree with you. Quite stunned when I saw that Dunga was named the new manager, and Jorginho as assistant manager.

Here is the squad for the friendly against Norway. Nice that players like Marcelo, Wagner and Elano got a call-up, but what is Morais and Jonatas doing here?

What do you think, R9magia?

Veja a lista para o amistoso contra a Noruega:

Goleiros
Gomes (PSV Eindhoven)
Fábio (Cruzeiro)

Zagueiros
Juan (Bayer Leverkusen)
Lúcio (Bayern de Munique)
Luisão (Benfica)
Alex (PSV Eindhoven)

Laterais
Cicinho (Real Madrid)
Maicon (Internazionale)
Gilberto (Hertha Berlim)
Marcelo (Fluminense)

Meio-campistas
Gilberto Silva (Arsenal)
Edmílson (Barcelona)
Dudu Cearense (CSKA)
Elano (Shakahtar Donetsk)
Julio Baptista (Real Madrid)
Jônatas (Flamengo)
Morais (Vasco da Gama)

Atacantes
Daniel Carvalho (CSKA)
Robinho (Real Madrid)
Fred (Lyon)
Wagner(Cruzeiro)
Vagner Love (CSKA)

^Morais on the seleção is even more of a stunner to me than Dunga on it lol. That caught me completely off guard. Honestly I didn't expect Jônatas to be there either but you can't really argue with the great phase he is going through at the moment (although there are better volantes in Brasil IMO). Like you, I'm very happy to see the players you mentioned on the list, I'm disappointed, however, that Edu Dracena (the best brazilian defender in Brasil) didn't make the list. He has been consistently one of the best in Brasil and I was confident this would be his time. As for the other selections, I'm glad to see Dudu Cearense called up. As I mentioned in my previous post he is a player that shouldn't be forgotten just because he plays in Russia.

I'm very excited to watch these players on the pitch. We will get to see a lot of youngsters play and the fact is many of these players are the future of the seleção.

ANDERSON!
...
The kid is amazing, only 18. So happy Porto got him, so far in the pre-season he has been Porto's best player. Amazing talent, great pace and skill! He's labled as the new 'magico' since Deco is gone now.
Im ordering the Porto away shirt, with Anderson 10 on the back.

^ Yeah he is a very promising player. Haven't seen to many Porto games although I will try to see as much as I can. I did see the one against Manchester and he had a quiet game.

You should cap some Porto games for us Figo7 .
