Barcelona confirm Ahly friendly - 24th April
Barcelona confirm Ahly friendly

Barca's Joan Laporta and Ahly's Hassam Handy agree to the match
European champions Barcelona have confirmed they will travel to face Egyptian side Ahly in a friendly match in Cairo on 24 April. The clash between the two clubs was agreed in the Egyptian capital Cairo by the presidents of Barcelona, Joan Laporta, and president of Ahly Hassam Handy.
Barcelona, who are also the defending Spanish champions said they would play in the match as part of Ahly's centenary celebrations.
Ahly are the most crowned club in Egypt, having won the Egyptian League 31 times.
Barcelona met in Cairo before in a friendly in 1961 with the Spanish side scoring a 6-1 win.

we have mostly egyptian players, some old some young but not like al itihad
only a buch of non egyptians in there, most the NT infact play for them, but the problem is, if a EU club wants them al ahly is too rich to need to sell so they dont and they never improve.

WOW, great news. Didn't think this would actually go through!
Too bad I won't be back home till August .
Should be a great entertaining match though in the true spirit of both clubs .
And RESPECT to Barca. Big time. Because this doesn't seem to be a marketing ploy or anything, they just seem to be supporting football around the world which is very respectable IMO.

I always wonder about these mid-season friendlies but I guess this gives Barca something to do while the Champions league semi finals are taking place.
