Default Another fan killed? Juve-Parma

Game off today.......unconfirmed if a Parma fan has died at a service station.

Possibly a traffic accident and, thankfully, not violence.

Not thankfully,of course.....you know what I mean.

confirmed by Italian press agencies. Juve-Parma has been called off. it seems it was really just a traffic accident where a bus of juve fans ran over a parma fan while backing up in a parking lot. Actually at the time there were no fans on the bus but just the driver

im gonna wait till some more news comes out before saying anything, all i have read so far is here-
http://www.channel4.com/sport/footba...8/juv-par.html

which seems to be what everyone else has now too

EDIT:
http://www.channel4.com/sport/footba...ia/mar30j.html

i know i wont be in the popular opinion here, but tbh, why cancel the match?
all these cancellations do is foster the belief that all these acts are football related. simple because they were driving to the match makes it football related and necessary to cancel the match? pretty ridiculous to me.

i know they thought there may be problems in the stadium, which is why the stadiums need more stewards, better security, less Ultras, more searches at the gates, etc. just because they think there may be problems only proves the fact that Italy has a fan violence problem.

to address the problem head on today, they should have continued with this match.

What do you exactly mean by "less Ultras"?

less of the violent Ultra groups. in other words the groups that Lega Calcio and the government know have done acts of violence in the past, etc should not be allowed into stadiums.

there was talk in Rome about allowing kids and families to take the seats in place of the Ultras. i love our fans, but im also not naive. many of them are violent, or can get there depending on what occurs in the stadium.

for me, i would much rather an environment i could go to with my girlfriend, or my brothers etc, than an environment in which i felt it was dangerous.

Don't throw all the Ultras in one bowl mate. I reckon that many Ultras from the Italian stadiums are there just to get a fight with the other Curva but think at least for a couple of seconds how the games would be without the good guys that are working hard for the display and also sing from start until the end those chants that gives you the goose bumps. They have a history on their own.

i understand its a difficult generalization, but tbh, im not sure how else to address the problem. for instance- Man U/Roma CL. every match so far almost there has been some event...and the acts of protest/violence or simple drunkenness is not coming from families sitting in the Tevere. its from individuals in the Curva.
now- let me clarify, i have never been to a match in Rome, i have only visited when i was young, and during 2000 when the Euro was going on. so i cannot say 100% the culture of Ultras, im not trying to paint a picture of them being all bad or all violent.

what im saying is how to you control a group of Ultras like Atalanta's who will penetrate the barriers between the field and the stands to protest the match continuing like earlier this year.

i certainly dont want to take away from the passion of the game, the signing, the chanting, the banners, the support...but things need to change in Italy for sure. like today why even cancel the match, it still baffles me.

if it means we need to sit like in England and to be less vocal and calmer during matches, in order to make it so families can go to the games and not be worried about violence, then so be it. perhaps this is what needs to happen. one day there needs to not be barriers between the field and the fans, id love to sit right on top of the field and chant and sing without having to worry about violence or canceling matches for non related football incidents. but Italy is quite a long way away from this

That explains a lot. You have to feel it first, plus it's not like all the stadium is full of Ultras. There's the Curva Nord & Curva Sud, the rest is for people that want to sit down during the game and encourage the team by buying the ticket only.

exactly, for instance i had an opportunity, that unfortunately fell through, where i thought i would be able to attend 2-3 Roma matches in late April had i been able to travel there.
i planned to buy Curva tickets to some, and to another purchase tickets in the Tevere. now im sure, as quite a passionate fan of Roma's, followed them since about when Totti began to play, i would love being in the Curva. but if i was in the stadium last year during the Man U match for instance, i would be be disgusted, and most likely trying to get myself and family to safety. same in Atalanta/Milan, or Roma/Lazio of 5-10 years ago.
this is in comparison to the other team i support, Chelsea, where again- have not been to a match living in America all my life. now that atmosphere is certainly different, right on the field, less vocal, but more family oriented.
now if i had to choose...id want to sing Grazie Roma in the Curva Sud with 30k people like me...but i just want to do that in a safe environment. im hoping that Roma can set the example, for instance like this past derby, welcoming children in the Curva, and families such as the Sandri's to enjoy the match, regardless of result
